So long, Julia Walker... 'Brothers & Sisters' bids farewell

Sarahjanemorris Poor Sarah Jane Morris. She was woefully underused on "Brothers & Sisters" these last three seasons and with her TV husband Balthazar Getty going bananas and being sent on hiatus, it seems "B&S" producers decided to give her her walking papers as well.

But I'm not sure why. I mean, with Tommy M.I.A., the perfect opportunity for SJM's character Julia to step into the spotlight finally presented itself, no? And Morris' departing scene last night showcased her ample skills as an actress ...not to mention those of Sally Field and Matthew Rhys. My goodness. Their faces, as they said goodbye? I -- for once -- didn't cry, but only because I couldn't believe how crazy real everyone's emotions seemed. It was startling.

So, yeah, there's no shortage of talent on "Brothers & Sisters," true. But think of all the storylines single and jilted mom Julia could've done. "B&S" powers-that-be, bring Sarah Jane Morris back next season! I hear Seattle kind of sucks.

Not really. Heard it's actually pretty sweet, but maybe Julia won't like it...

What else?

Everyone watch "Desperate" yesterday? Solid episode, as per usual. Favorite scene? The Carlos-Gaby/Lynette-Tom dinner party. Bitter insults brought on by defensiveness and jealousy? Always fun. Especially when done so well. Don't   you agree?

An even better addition...dishing on last night's tv...just like the old "Quickies"!!

DH was good last night...you know that anything with Tom & Carlos in it has got to be my favourite, so put them together and I am over-the-moon! Plus I think that the dynamic of those two couples brings out the best in Eva Longoria Parker. Another fave scene of mine was Crazy-Eyes Dave hugging Susan when she finally revealed the truth...wonderfully creepy! Run little MJ, run!!

As for B&S, I did cry at the end and you are right, the performances were once again stellar and suprisingly real. Kudos should also go to Luke MacFarlane for Scotty's (brief) good-bye. Why weren't Scotty and Julia in more scenes together?!!...that would have added another dimension to her storyline if they had been smart enough to keep Sarah Jane Morris around!!

As for the rest, not enough Dave Annable for my liking but I was appeased by so much Matt Lescher (sorry Robert fans!). And is it wrong that I'm still rooting (sp?!) for Holly?!!

Thanks Korbi and ditto on all you said about Sarah Jane Morris. I can't believe I didn't realize that it wasn't her, it was just her plotlines that made me dislike Julia, until the last few weeks and I loved her! I was so excited for the glimmer of a great plotline hinted at, only for her to move away.

Balthazar + Getty = Betty. Usage: Due to the economy and Betty's offscreen antics, Sarah Jane Morris got written off of "Brothers & Sisters."

The less I say or think about DH the better or my fingers will be nubs. Edie is already missed, and the Dave plot is just the worse without her. Plus the timing is just bizarre - how long was Orsen in the hospital? Was Edie cremated and the roadtrip taken in a day or two? No Mrs. McClusky this week since we no longer have Edie? Who is this Rose woman we've never seen before? If they were going to have her be a witness why wasn't she introduced earlier - no planning ....errrrggghhh I must stop! LOL

Oh and Kath I totally agree with you on Matt Lescher!

I thought of all the drama it would cause as Julia tried to move on... what it would be like for her to date. How she would still fit into the Walker clan and I think it sucks they got rid of her. She was sorely underused, but this was finally her chance! Hopefully she is back next season.

One last thing (in my best Columbo impression) - that Melissa/Joan meltdown last night on "Celebrity (cough cough) Apprentice" must be addressed. Perhaps the best meltdown ever in reality television! She's fleeing the interview! She's fleeing the interview!

They should keep Julia and send Ryan away.

Thanks Kellek..."betty" is now in my t.v. lexicon!

I hope Rebecca will side with the Walkers to stop the rat Ryan to stab them in the back through her mother! And maybe Justin can go work there since he hasn't started his new education yet? Get the Walkers the majority of the votes? But more importantly, PLEASE keep giving us more Robert & Kitty scoop!! If they'd break up, I'd be devastated! I get sick to my stomach when I realise how 'easily' people just let themselves be emotionally attached to someone else instead of their spouse! Okay, Robert hasn't been the perfect man but he's shown that he wants to work on their relationship, right?! I now only have strong hopes that the writers won't break them up, because the chemistry of R&K was my main reason for watching B&S! There are better ways to write good tv besides just keep breaking up couples! Let them work on their relationship and write amazing dialogues and convince us that it's possible to regain that special love what made them get married in the first place! If writers can do that, they are truly amazing!

I loved both DH and B&S I agree with Korbi about Julia. I was also thinking ABC should give her a spin off show since she is a really good actress and maybe just maybe (if the show is done right) ABC will actually keep the show around for a few season since they have not stood by a new series in a while now. Just a thought.

You have always been an advocate of Sarah Jane Morris since B&S started. I don't see it. She has never been able to hold her own in a scene and certainly not against the likes of Sally Field. Last night, her sadness seemed to come more from the place of "I'm being fired" than from her characters emotional arc. I wish her well, but should they decide to bring her back she needs to step it up and find a bit more depth. Too often it feels she is just skimming the surface. Perhaps Seattle will make her into a granola earth mother and mellow her out.

Don't get me started on the Kitty affair story line. Wrong! Go back to Robert you First Lady wanna-be.

Also, more Jason Lewis would be nice.
