Sci Fi becomes Syfy with 'Warehouse 13' July 7
On July 7, prepare to meet the new Syfy and "Imagine Greater." How great? Well, check it out.
Sci Fi Channel will launch its new name and branding with the two-hour premiere of its so-called thrilleromedy (their word, not ours) "Warehouse 13" on Tuesday, July 7 at 9-11 p.m. ET/PT.
"Warehouse 13" centers on two secret agents, the meticulously detailed Myka (Joanne Kelly) and highly intuitive but unpredictable Pete (Eddie McClintock), who have been assigned out to South Dakota's mysterious Warehouse 13, where Artie (Saul Rubinek) is the caretaker of a vast array of strange and fantastical artifacts.
Shortly afterward, "Eureka" will return for the second half of its third season, moving from Tuesdays to Fridays, beginning July 10 at 9 p.m. If you recall, Jack (Colin Ferguson) lost his job as the town's sheriff, so that's stressful. His daughter Zoe (Jordan Hinson) isn't helping, since she's giving him grief on the home front.
Oh, and there'll be more lovin' for Jack in the form of Dr. Tess Fontana, who will oversee the re-opening of Global Dynamics' "Section 5." And speaking of lovin', how will Allison's (Salli Richardson-Whitfield) pregnancy play out?
Other summer goodies from Syfy:
- "Ghost Hunters International" returns Wednesday, July 8 at 9 p.m. - Oh good, because those ugly American ghosts were just getting annoying
- "Ghost Hunters" returns Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 9 p.m. - Oh good, because you can't understand what those foreign ghosts are saying
- Syfy's fantastical movies: "Malibu Shark Attack" starring Peta Wilson (prehistoric goblin-y sharks); "High Plains Invader" starring James Marsters (giant insectoid aliens); "Hellhounds" directed by Rick Schroeder (Greek warrior in Hades); and "Sand Serpents" starring Jason Gedrick (giant worm-like critters in Afghanistan).
- Marathons: Memorial Day - "Land of the Lost"; July 4th celebration (Thursday - Saturday) "Twilight Zone"

By moving Eukeka from Tues to Fri night at 9pm, I hope they are not putting Eukeka vs Monk (SciFi/Syfy vs USA Network)!?!?
Who cares? They're a joke, one I don't plan on watching .. and I *like* sci-fi (but not syfy--ugh)!
New name is childish. From a Marketing standpoint, it is just plain stupid to trash years of name recognition. I wonder how much they paid for it and for the focus groups. This would have been a great April Fools joke, but it looks like they are serious. "Just can't fix stupid."
Syfy has got to be the dumbest network name change ever. And i doubt it will ever grow on me either. I dont even think i can watch ECW now.
Agreed! Whoever thought of this name change needs to get the boot! The show sounds like an X-File ripoff.
SyFy?
How many people will call it "siffy?"
Idiots.
The promos for "Warehouse 13" look better than I thought the show was going to be. Hopfully Sci-fi fans will give it a chance & hopfully so will Sci-Fi Channel.
I am watching SciFi right now and will continue to watch it no matter what they call it. I love Eureka and Twilight Zone, and Warehouse 13 sounds good.
Why change it from something that makes sense, SciFi (as in Science Fiction) to SyFy? The name doesn't even make sense...what two words are they combining??? And how do you even pronounce it? See Fee? How dumb.
It's still pronounced Sci Fi-they are just changing the spelling of it. They claim it's for trademark purposes and a few other silly reasons. I find it dumb, but no more dumb than showing wrestling on a science fiction station...
Anyway, I'll still watch. I enjoy catching The Twilight Zone, Ghost Hunters and the occasional shows that were canceled too show (Wolf Lake, Tru Calling, Jerimiah, etc). But yeah, stupid move.
