'Real Housewives of New York' breakup has royal roots

Luanndelesseps_therealhousewivesofnyc_s2_240 The heretofore unnamed Ethiopian woman who got between "Real Housewives of New York City" star Countess LuAnn de Lesseps and her husband has been identified -- and she's royalty.

The woman's name is Princess Kemeria Abajobir Abajifar, according to the web site EthioPlanet. She's the granddaughter of the last ruler of the Gibe Kingdom of Jimmaa, which is located in present-day Ethiopia.

News that de Lesseps and her husband, Count Alexandre de Lesseps, had split up surfaced a couple of weeks ago. Accounts of the breakup had only referred to Abajifar as an Ethiopian woman whom the count had become involved with, but EthioPlanet says both she and the count wanted her identified by name.

Luanne de Lesseps, 43, has said she was "blindsided" by the news that her husband was involved with another woman, which she says the count confirmed via e-mail.

"The Real Housewives of New York City" wrapped its second season earlier this week. De Lesseps has a book, "Class with the Countess," due to hit shelves later this month.

please please please, i am from ethiopia and the original source of this princess story is ethiopian amateur blog website ethioplanet.com

it is the most unrealiable website of ethiopia. there is no such jimma princess blah blah

you are probably the same guy who seems to be going around to every news site relentlessly trying to refute the irrefutable. Get in contact with either Count de Lesseps or the former OLF spokesman himself if you don't believe it. If on the other hand the issue is accepting the fact that there was in fact such a kingdom in Jimmaa, or if there really was a King named Aba Jifar, then do your own research and you will surely find the proof. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abba_Jifar_II

You can choose to believe whatever the hell you want about Ethiopian history, just stop going around spewing idiotic, ignorant nonsense!

This "countess" with all her talk about how important she is an dhow priviledged...how the "mighty" arrogant have fallen!

I am an Ethiopian and I have the real royal blood.

There was no and there is no a royal house in Jimma Ethiopia. If you don't have an Axumite blood from Tigrai you are not a royal blood in Ethiopia. Any one can call themselves royal but where did the blood and the root come from? In Ethiopia it comes from Axum in northern Ethiopia. Every King and queen that was in Ethiopia traces their roots and blood from Tigrai Axum. Outside of Axum there is no royal in Ethiopia. It is very simple just google Ethiopian royal family or Axum and do a little research I bet you money you would not come up with the house of Jimma in Ethiopia. Some of the Ethiopian kings might have some Oromo blood but they don't get their royal blood from their Oroma side. It is just when the Oromo were expandig fast in the 1500s the Ethiopian Kings at the time had children to apease them.

Honestly, did she really think he was faithul while he lives in another country? And other then his title i don't know what she saw in him. hes not good looking at all and he looks like a 70 yr old. Can't wait to see her try and pull that countess crap in public now! Sorry hun, yur one of us small people again so come down off your pedastal, cuz your not royalty.

yeah i think she was after his title and money more than anything she was happy for that i think. i never sensed much tenderness with luann regarding the count. and now he's onto the next one, probably after the same things....

anyway, neither are losing much in the deal. the big losers here are the kids and i feel a little bad for them. but they'll be okay i am sure. a lot of kids are worse off than they are i am sure.

It's a pretty sweet deal for the "Count". As the daughter of the exiled King of Ethiopia, there are millions of dollars that the King is needing help getting out of the country. I hear they will gladly give the "Count" a cut by helping them.

Count, Countess, Princess ... blah blah blah ... it's all childish my-dad-can-beat-up-your-dad crap! Anyone can buy a title if they have enough money. An idiot is still an idiot no matter what they call themselves. What a waste of oxygen!!

"Real Royal", you dimwitted buffoon, do you think royalty was bestowed on people by God? What idiot taught you that royalty can only be acquired by blood line? Where did it first originate from? Dis someone not arbitrarily declare themselves "King" at some point?

You do realize, the most famous royalty in Ethiopia, Emperor Haile Selasie, was Oromo from his father's side, and half oromo from his mother's side? That makes him at least 67% Oromo and the rest is half gurage and half Amhara...no Tigrayan "blood". You should also know that if you go back far enough, his "royal" line came through MARRIAGE, not blood, ya ignoble ho-hum!

luanne is older than 43
