No Mercy: Madonna adoption bid denied

Madonna_240 Madonna threw her adoption party a wee prematurely.

The Material Girl's request to adopt her second Malawi child was rejected Friday, April 3 because she did not meet a residency requirement, reports the AP.

Apparently, prospective parents must live in Malawi for 18-24 months. Madonna somehow bypassed this requirement when she adopted son David Banda, now 3, in 2008, which is why some critics say that her celebrity status gave her special treatment.

Not so this time. The judge at the hearing claims that 3 1/2-year-old Mercy, or Chifundo, needs suitable parents and "not someone who just flies in and out."

Madonna currently has homes in New York and London. Besides being David's mother, she's also the single mom to Lourdes, 12, and Rocco, 8.

It's unknown if she will appeal the ruling.

What do you think? Should Madonna appeal or try adopting elsewhere?

MADONNA AS A MOM HAS BAD NEWS WRITTEN ALL OVER IT

I disagree Madonna should not be denied custody of the child, because of the 18-24 month living requirement.

Reality is the child was being adopted to be taken out of the country. The adoptee is not a resident of the country.

On that note, I feel really bad for the child. Can we image the privilege life, full of many opportunities this child was denied. What will be her future. Maybe we should follow the childs life for the next 18-24 months?

People are quick to judge. No one other than the people closest to Madonna, know what kind of mother she is. When I see her children in magazines (which is rare), they truly seem happy, well adjusted children.

Lets think about the children.
