Sherylcrow_51stannualgrammyawards09_240 We don't know exactly what's going to happen on the season finale of "30 Rock" next month, but our best guess is that it will be melodious.

The guest star-happy NBC comedy has lined up a big roster of musicians for its finale on Thursday, May 14. The network isn't being too forthcoming on what they'll all be doing, saying only that the finale will be a "special episode featuring Alan Alda and surprise musical guests."

Alda, the Emmy-winning star of "M*A*S*H" and the final season of "The West Wing," will appear in the season's final two episodes. In the finale, he'll be joined by music stars Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow, Mary J. Blige, Clay Aiken and Adam Levine of Maroon 5. Sherri Shepherd will also reprise her occasional role as Tracy's (Tracy Morgan) wife.

Whether all those guests will be good for the show remains to be seen. A few of the "30 Rock" guests this season -- notably Salma Hayek, who will be back in Thursday's (April 23) episode -- have blended in seamlessly with the show, but others (Steve Martin, Jennifer Aniston to a degree) haven't been as successful.

May sweeps, which actually start Thursday, will also feature the return of Steve Buscemi (this week) and Elaine Stritch (April 30) to "30 Rock."

Ummm, Salma Hayek was *terrible* in her guest appearances. She was unconvincing in her line delivery and showed very little comic timing. She was the low point of the season for me. Jennifer Aniston, on the other hand, was great in a poorly written episode and the less said about Steve Martin's atrocious turn the better. Then there were Oprah, Jon Hamm, Megan Mullally, and others who were fine but unspectacular. I'm sure that the finale will feature all of them doing some big production and all having microscopic cameos. But wouldn't it be nice if "30 Rock" resisted "Will & Grace" territory and focused on its own impressive ensemble?

'30 Rock' has been chock ful o'guest appearances ever since the first season. It's not new or novel, it's just newly promoted by NBC to try to inspire people to watch.

steve martin was the best guest this season
i thought the oprah one was pretty boring except the olympics thing

i thought steve martin was hilarious.

Clay Aiken is sure to stink up the show!! I can't believe they're having HIM on!! Did anybody catch him on "America's Next Top Model"? He was HORRENDOUS on it and the show's ratings went down the week he was on.

Clay will be great; he's funny, smart, witty and hope he gets to sing! He was great on ANTM.

Alexandra, is it so hard to say something nice about someone,or could your jealously be showing?

Steve Martin was the best guest appearance this season!

can't wait to see this episode .Big fan of the show. Clay Aiken. Happened to catch him in Spamalot. One talented dude.

I never watched the show, but I will just to see Clay. Probably to much to hope for to hear him sing. I feel as though we're going through a drought. Love Clay and his voice, looking forward to it.
