FOX opts out of Obama press conference Wednesday
FOX has decided that Cal Lightman and Simon Cowell will be a bigger benefit to the network than the president on Wednesday night.
The network has decided it won't air a White House press conference in which President Obama will discuss his first 100 days in office. Its regular lineup of "Lie to Me" and the "American Idol" results show will air as previously scheduled.
The network says it will have an on-screen message telling viewers they can watch the press conference on cable's Fox News and Fox Business Channel. It also saves some scheduling headaches; the last Obama news conference, which aired on a Thursday, caused the network to double up on "Bones" episodes the past two weeks in order to get the show's full season in by the end of sweeps.
ABC, CBS and NBC have all said they will air the press conference, which will cause a few changes in the schedule. The most significant is at ABC, which will pre-empt the second-to-last "Scrubs" episode of the season and the finale of "Better Off Ted" on Wednesday. Both shows will move to Tuesday, May 5 (which in turn bumps "According to Jim" off for a week); the "Scrubs" finale is still set for Wednesday, May 6.
CBS is bumping "The New Adventures of Old Christine" and "Gary Unmarried" on Wednesday; their season finales will in turn move back a week, from May 13 to May 20. (The network is also trying a slightly different comedy block on May 13, with a new episode of "Rules of Engagement" at 8 p.m. and "Old Christine" at 8:30.)
NBC will be the least affected by the news conference. It had scheduled a "Law & Order" repeat for the time period on Wednesday.

'Lie to Me' recaps

I think its GREAT!!! After all, he will only "Lie to Me" and those that see him as the "American Idol" will have other places to worship!!
Thank Gawdawmighty, free at last!
It's all about choice, after all...
you go, Fox.
You guys are idiots..just like the Texas idiot that just left office. Everything that President Obama is doing and succeeding at I might add, is just causing more and more tummy pains for the rethugs and conservs! Guess it would be fine to have the former president giving his state of the uni...wait, no he didn't give them often, had to go on vacations to clear his head and get the lies straight so that he could p*** that sh^t along when he felt like speaking to us. You people ate it up..we're in deep-d@@ d@@ but, you don't want to hear President Obama being truthful. Guess it'll take about eight years to get away from believing lies and to get on board to telling the truth again..even if it's not what you want to hear! GET OVER IT...WE WON!!!
blkcat_x_lady, The only time any truth comes out of Celebu-Prez Obama is when his precious teleprompter stops working. He is only making everything worse for our country and for our safety. Our country is in deep d@@ d@@ as you say but it is because the liberals had to find ways to give more freebies to the "little people" to buy their votes... You WON, our country LOST!!!
Thank you Fox network. For some reason TW111 thinks we should be spoonfed Obama 24/7. I don't need/want to watch Obama read from a teleprompter.
I don't care what Fox is aring at that time , I'll be there.
fox is an *******
Thank goodness ABC is rescheduling Scrubs.
This won't affect my household at all as I have actually put a parental block on all FOX channels and then threw away the access code. This is so that my children won't be exposed to their kind of dishonest, un-American garbage. FOX News is the real reason why our economy and country is so screwed up. They mislead a bunch of morons into beleiveing that the "Bolsheviks" (for Republican purposes, this means Communist/socialist, sorry about the "history" and "big words")are taking over the country. President Obama has done more work in office in 2 weeks than Bush did his entire Presidency. This move by FOX is a slap in the face of the office of the Presidency and I think that anyone with a brain should boycott all of their nonsense and let the morons drink their koolaid.
Methinks this decision was made before the swine flu outbreak took off. Presumably Obama will speak to the issue -- and if it accellerates over the next few days or people start panicking, I wouldn't bet on Simon getting the final word.
A press conference -- oh yeah, that really demands full-on monolithic live coverage. When you insist on it even when the material covered could just as well be disseminated by reporters -- which is how a press conference is SUPPOSED to work -- then you're verging on power plays, of snapping fingers just to see people jump. Frankly I think Fox is doing Obama a service by not falling in line. The President needs to be discouraged from becoming the little boy who cried "Preempt!"
