Ex-Illinois gov denied 'I'm a Celebrity' spot

Rodblagojevich_290 Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has been denied the chance at reality-TV fame, as a judge ruled Tuesday that he couldn't leave the country to be a contestant on an NBC show.

That means that "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here" will have to find someone else to fill out its roster of sort of-famous people who will suffer through several weeks in a Costa Rican jungle for our entertainment.

In a hearing Tuesday, U.S. District Judge James Zagel said it would be a "bad idea" if Blagojevich appeared on the show while he's under indictment on a long list of corruption charges that resulted in his removal from office. "I do not have confidence that things will not go astray," the judge said, in what sounds like a masterful bit of understatement.

The Chicago Tribune has full details on the story. "I'm a Celebrity" is scheduled to premiere June 1.
