'Dollhouse' episode 13 will not air, but why?
Whedon fans, I fear it's happening again.
According to Dr. Horrible's Twitter page -- which is apparently run by the Whedon brothers themselves -- "Dollhouse" episode 13, the show's intended season finale, will not be making it to a small screen near you.
This, by the way, is the episode "Buffy" alum Felicia Day (Vi) is in and, according to a morning tweet from her, she just got this news and she ain't thrilled.
So what does it mean when your show's season finale gets pulled? Probably nothing good.
Not like you didn't see it coming with the fairly sad ratings "Dollhouse" has been getting, but yeah, doubt it'll be back in the fall.
One rumor swirling is that the 13th episode is really more of an epilogue/season two setup (a la the season one "Buffy" finale) and if "Dollhouse" isn't getting a second year pick up, the producers and/or the network would rather end things at hour 12.
Thoughts?
UPDATE: According to FOX, the network ordered just 13 hours of the show, including the unaired original pilot. So the plan all along was to air the 12 episodes made after the first pilot, and the May 8 episode "Omega" (episode 12) was always intended as the season finale.
"Dollhouse" producer Tim Minear -- who wrote and directed "Omega" -- just posted a paragraph on Whedonesque.com that seems to corroborate this story, though he adds that FOX should still air episode 13/14 because it's awesome.

The fact that they aired this stinker at all is a miracle.
Like, who cares?
Felicia Day does
I felt it'd finally found direction. I was watching it out of misplaced loyalty, but finally 'entertainment' and 'smart' started appearing. This won't be as sad as Firefly, but it will be more sad than Drive.
Damn - FOX strikes again...
This "stinker" is better than a lot of other things on the air right now.
This is upsetting but this is the TV world now. Unless you make a huge splash on your first try you are pretty much a goner.
This sucks...that's what I think!
No love for the brilliance that is Joss Whedon.
:(
I've been getting into the show and this news makes me sad. AND it frustrates me. AND it makes me not want to invest in new shows on FOX.
I mean, IF they're really canceling it (which I admit this is how it looks to me) AND are willing to continue airing the first 12 episodes, THEN go ahead and air the 13th episode as well! (it's just one more episode - don't just let it be on DVD only)
Anyone who wants can email Fox at askfox@fox.com .. also, their twitter account is @FoxBroadcasting .. just, you know, try to keep it clean and civilized, right?
It's not just us Whedonites that don't trust Fox, I'd love to know what Eliza Dushku is thinking right now - Tru Calling was cancelled by Fox aswell, mid-season two and yet she now has a development deal with the network - Dollhouse being the first of those projects! Gotta hope it werent a golden handcuffs deal otherwise the girl's with the wrong network!
This show is weak and with Sarah and PB leaving, not a bad time to just wrap it up the sooner, the better.
