Susan Boyle seemed an unlikely candidate on "Britain's Got Talent," but her bravura performance on the reality competition show captured the hearts and imagination of viewers who watched her locally and on YouTube.
In fact, the clip still makes people cry.
Why?
Well, if you're one of few who haven't checked out the "Britain's Got Talent" moment yet, do so now.
Boyle is frumpy, never-been-kissed and unemployed. The goofy music played over her introduction reflects how the judges, hosts, studio audience and even viewers like us don't take her seriously. We expect a ridiculous rendition of a song that's far below her grandiose, delusional perception of her talents.
But boy, are we wrong. As soon as she begins "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables, everyone is shocked. You can see, hear and feel the ripple of surprise and delight in the audience. Hell, even sourpuss Simon Cowell makes a goofy joke and cracks a smile.
It's moving. In a sense, she has nothing -- except the aforementioned dream. And dammit, that dream might just become a reality.

I have watched the video so many times and it has brought tears of joy. God has blessed her and now the rest of us with a truly, humble person.
I have watched the clip 3 times and even showed it to all in my office. This woman is amazing and it goes to prove that you truly CAN'T judge a book by its cover. This isn't just an example of someone being talented, it's an example of how the world continues to be a prejudiced place to live. May Susan go far in life, and may this clip remind people that everyone IS someone!
I am checking every site on the web on Susan Boyle I can find today. I first heard it in the middle of the night, not sleeping as usual. And I would like for her to know, that the thoughts and feelings I had from her performance gave me a reason to get out of bed today. I don't lay abed daily as a rule; but the past few months have taken a serious toll on me. Thank you Susan for your talent, your courage, and for just being yourself. Kate
It is unfortunate we live in a world that judges people by what they look like, and not who they are inside, Susan has an incredible voice and I hope all her dreams come true, she surely deserves it!!
How many beautiful voices never get heard because they're not attached to a beautiful face? In today's world, we might never have had an Ella Fitzgerald or a Mama C*** or a Janis Joplin.

I agree with all of the previous comments. The whole experience was very moving and I hope she quickly becomes a star. Talent isn't always in a pretty package. Just think of Barbra Streisand.
