You Ask, I Answer: 'Gossip Girl,' 'Life on Mars,' 'Friday Night Lights' & 'Big Love'
Today: Gossip Girl pairings, a possible Friday Night Lights pick up, plus Life on Mars, Big Love & more (including some quality time with Will Arnett & Jason Bateman)...
Korbi, You said that Nate and Blair would be a blip in the Gossip Girl
time line, but now I hear that Nate is gonna ask Blair to move in with him. No hope
for Chuck and Blair this season? Please, answer me, I really would like
to know. I feel like giving up Gossip Girl. -Fernanda
Don't give up, woman. There is always hope for Chuck and Blair. Always. The writers fully understand that C.B. and Blair belong together, but they can't just couple them up and be done with it. You'd get bored, don't you think? Instead, they have to throw roadblocks like Nate Archibald, Carter Baizen (played by Leighton Meester's real life boyfriend) and that Gentleman's Club chick in the way. Yes, not only will Blair and Nate be a thing, but Blair will give it up to Carter even before that, and Chuck will fall for the shady lady he was stalking last we saw him. The good news is, there are a few quality Chuck-Blair scenes on tap for the March 23rd episode. Chuck's affection for Ms. Waldorf will rise to the surface once again. It's just too little too late for the time being.
If Blair and Nate are going to be together, what happens to him and Vanessa? I like them together. -Cat
Me too. And they will be together when we jump back into the Gossip world next Monday. Actually, they'll be together the following week too. But issues between them will begin to flare up, and ultimately, it seems their lack of common interests and disparate backgrounds will be the death of them.
What's up with Dan and the teacher on Gossip Girl? Will they get caught? -P
Affirmative. Rufus finds out what's going on and he's not happy. However, Rachel has a dark side that we haven't yet seen. Seems she has more in common with Blair than we were led to believe.
Korbi, Did you see this?! -Matthew
Yes, as first reported by Michael Ausiello this morning, NBC is in talks with DirecTV to renew Friday Night Lights for two additional seasons. As it turns out, even though FNL's numbers are less than stellar, with the DirecTV deal in place, Friday Night Lights still turns a profit for NBC. I spoke with a network insider who told me that because so many of their executives are such huge fans of the show, they are working hard to make a season 4 and 5 happen.
I am so bummed about Life on Mars being cancelled. I'm glad we're getting closure, but how great can the closure be if the producers have to wrap everything up in such a hurry? -Jess
Actually, I talked to executive producer Josh Appelbaum today and, it turns out, they didn't have to alter the season finale all that much. Many of the show's storylines were going to be wrapped up in that final hour whether they got a second season or not. The changes they made were really just in the last act, cutting the cliffhanger of course and crossing all the remaining Ts that weren't yet taken care of. Josh promised a satisfying ending and said that most die hard fans of the show will want to go back and watch old episodes afterward, because everything they've done in the past will have double meaning. "Some people will loathe the ending and some will absolutely love it," he told me. "But I can say it is very emotional and it is mind bending." They film the final scene this Thursday.
Korbi, I agree with everything you've said about Big Love. It is the best show on television. What's coming up? -Lilith
Well, apparently there's a firestorm brewing over a scene we'll see in this Sunday's episode. I guess Barb will take us inside a Mormon temple and the LDS church isn't too happy about how they're being portrayed. Thing is, this is but one storyline in the middle of a rich, layered drama series. And I don't think the demographic that's devoted to Big Love is judging an entire faith based on Barb's bratty sister and her shifty husband! It's just really good TV, that's all.
Anything on Lie To Me? -Joel
Yes. Lie To Me has a new time slot, don't forget: Wednesday at 8 p.m, starting this week with Lightman and Foster investigating the disappearance of a little girl.
Korbi, Make me laugh. -Maria
Allow me to step out the way of Arnett and Bateman. Enjoy...

I really hope NBC keeps FNL around! it is one of the best shows week in and week out even in the terrible friday night timeslot. this week's ep with street and riggins had me in tears at the end. Texas Forever!
bateman and arnett = hollywood's sexiest men.
korbi, great news if fnl gets renewed. it might just be the best show ever made. but if it does come back, what will they do with the cast? didn't most of them graduate? i can't imagine the show without them!
about GG "However, Rachel has a dark side that we haven't yet seen."
we haven't? maybe only if we had on blinders...because so far imo she's already been pretty out and out freaky.
and don't forget Blair is a student and Rachel a teacher so i think we have a different std between the 2.
So you were wrong about N/B being a "blip" in the GG timeline? Thanks for the false hope.
I hope, hope, hope that is true about FNL. It really is the BEST show on TV. I started watching toward the end of the second season and was hooked from the first episode I saw. If you don't watch, you don't know what you're missing!!!!
That last video can't be viewed outside the US. Any chance you could add a description to it so the rest of the world can share the joke?
Korbi - great news for FNL! That is a great show and deserves TV time!
WIth regard to LOM (so sad it's cancelled), Josh said about the ending - some with love it some will loathe it...it better not end with Journey singing Don't Stop Believin!! ;-)
I don't understand the Chuck/Blair spoiler...are you saying we just have to be patient for this season or are you saying you got the BLIP thing wrong? And I disagree that CB will be boring together. Good writers could write up anything and make it interesting. Saying CB will be boring is basically justifying the writers being lazy and unimaginative IMO. There are fanfictions out there that have Chuck and Blair together and NOT BORING.
