Will 'The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency' stick around?

Jillscott My take on the premiere of HBO's "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency"? I like it, but dude, it's way slow.

I mean, Jill Scott does her job as the show's leading lady, the supporting characters are good and it's shot beautifully. However, I really hope they pick up the pace next week. You?

I think u have to watch the show in a concept where it was filmed, not everypart of teh world runs like new york city or LA.the pace for something filmed and happening in an african environement is not gonna be necessarily requiring people to get on their running shoes and even the suspens is gonna be different...so take a long breath and immerse urself in a different world and if u just can't do it then ...u still have Svu and otehr shows lol

Completely agree, Korbi! Good show, but waaaaaaay to slow.

My bad. I meant "too" slow.

I actually thought it was really good. I enjoyed the actors and that secretary was a hoot.

I actually enjoyed watching this show. The actors were excellent and it was all around pleasant. The girl playing the secretary is a hoot and Jill Scott was incredible as well.

I enjoyed it and watched it again on the replays of it throughout last night. Great characters and good actors portraying them. Enjoyed the music, scenery and dancing too. Everything was top notch.

A little too slow for me, but I liked it.

Jill Scott floating around doing a dialect is not acting. I watched last night's eppy but felt nothing for the character - didn't like her, didn't dislike her. Just didn't really care about it. I hope she can show some dimension as the series progresses.

the thing is - the books are slow, too. it's part of the charm, really; nothing moves too fast there in gabarone or botswana. i think people are too attuned to having everything rush past them on the television, fed in quick bites that play to our diminishing attention spans. too bad there aren't more beautiful shows like this that don't focus entirely on action and violence. sometimes it's nice to discover things at a slow pace.

after last night i'll never take time out of my day to watch that again.
