I love SciFi but could never sit through an entire episode of Boring Star Galactica
I really wanted to like this show since everyone says its the greatest thing ever; unfortunately, everytime I tried to watch it (which was often) I found it boring, and depressing. Just because a character never smiles and mumbles his lines doesn't mean he is deep, conflicted, and interesting.
I agree I tried to like the show since so many people swear it is great; however, I honestly think it was worse then the original. The original was cheesy obviously, but it had drama AND humor and some of the stories hold up well. In fact, many of the new BSG's plot points were twisted versions of story arcs from the original like the Pegasus story and the whole 'Angel's thing.
BSG is not for everyone, certainly not for those people who just want to watch a show and never use their brains. Or because they just want to have a laugh at a joke.
BSG is a show that you actually have to focus to understand the deep message of the story. It's dark, gritty, grim, and very blunt at times but that's just what the show is and it doesn't shy away from that aspect. It is not shallow, and certainly not afraid to tackle sensitive social issues. It is a brilliant drama that always asks the hard questions of humanity's decisions and choices. After seeing so many shows shy away from social/political issues, it is so refreshing to see a show that can take those issues head-on and not afraid to cross the line every once in a while.
For those who doesn't like the show, it's your loss. For those who love the show, this finale is bittersweet, hearbreaking, and tear-jerking, but ultimately a satisfying ending that few series finale could rival!
BSG is one of the most intelligent shows I've ever seen, and I am sad to see it come to an end.
BRAVO to the cast and crew for giving us four years of amazing television!
I did enjoy watching BSG, but there was always this nagging feeling that they were making it up as they went along, and they themselves didn't know the answers to The Big Mysteries. In the last few episodes, when they started actually trying to explain things, that feeling grew to an absolute certainty. Now I feel cheated.
I loved this finale. It was a true finale, as it marked a moment in the story where everything which came before will be rendered irrelevant. Two societies died, one was born. Amazing.
i loved most of it, hated some of it. i didn't like starbucks story, it was anticlimatic and didn't make much sense plus they never answered key questions about her. i loved the rest of it, admiral adama and the president had the best/ saddest ending to they're story.
No, sorry, I disagree with most of the comments here. It was beautiful and perfect. It was a story about everyone and everything. Starbuck was "Jesus".
I too thought the finale was brilliant. I think a lot of people are having trouble seeing through all of the faith-based material or just don't want to accept how much faith (or religious beliefs) played a part in the story. For me, Kara, Head Six and Head Baltar were all messengers or servants of the One True God sent to guide the humans and Cylons to their ultimate destination. Some of these messengers (or angels, if you will) are meant to walk among us and fulfill God's will for us. Others are only seen by those chosen by a Divine Hand to also fulfill God's will. The Hybrids called Kara a harbinger of death, and while her actions didn't actually kill anyone, like Chris R said, she delivered the two races to their new home so that they could join together and form one new race of people to populate the planet. After all, what is a God without people to worship Him? I thought it was a very profound conclusion that a lot of people don't want to accept on faith, instead looking for more concrete answers. Some things are better left to the imagination!
Chuck, im not particularly religious, but i do consider myself a spiritual person of sorts. Some of you might not understand that, but others will xx I just wanted to say to your comments above...
" I couldnt have put it better myself!" :)
Bravo BSG you delivered a better wind up than i would hv thought in the time you had left, & even answered a couple of items, i though you wouldn't get resolved...
Cara's storylime was definately the most mysterious, but as Ron Moore explained in one of his podcasts, its important to leave some threads open to interpretation by the audience. Well certainly be discussing what we thought it all meant around the water cooler at work for week sto come :)
