Peter Krause and Maura Tierney experience 'Parenthood'
Peter Krause and Maura Tierney aren't taking a whole lot of time off between TV gigs.
Krause, who starred on ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money," will star NBC's new take on the 1989 movie "Parenthood," while Tierney, who ended her nine-season run as an "ER" regular earlier in the season, is in negotiations to join him. Mae Whitman and Sarah Ramos have also joined the cast, and Craig T. Nelson and Dax Shepard are in talks, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Parenthood" will be loosely based on the 1989 movie directed by Ron Howard, who's an executive producer this time around. "Friday Night Lights" exec producer Jason Katims is writing the pilot, which like the movie will focus on the Bravermans, a family of adult siblings and their respective broods.
Krause will play Adam, a seemingly normal guy with a wife and two kids who sometimes has trouble keeping things together. Tierney would play his sister, a single mom with a hellion of a daughter ("Arrested Development" alum Whitman). Ramos ("American Dreams") will play Krause's daughter.
If they sign on, Nelson ("Coach," "The District") would play the free-spirited Braverman patriarch, and Shepard ("Baby Mama") will play their youngest brother.

Can you say another failure is in the works for NBC? Haven't they learned their lessons about remaking past movies and shows and you wonder why they're failing!
What a waste of two extremely talented actors. Krause and Tierney deserve so much better than this. Besides, don't we already have a series like this? It's called Brothers & Sisters.
Hmmm...I don't know. As another article I read stated, the kids who loved the movie are raising kids of their own right now. They might tune in for nostalgic's sake. And the premise that is being described doesn't sound much like the movie. I'll watch it just to see Maura Tierney and Mae Whitman chew up scenery together. They will rock as mother/daughter rivals. LOL
Wasn't there already a TV show based on "Parenthood" in the early '90's?
mea whitman? her?
:)
I don't mind if it's a remake - if Maura Tierney is in it, it's going to be good and I'm going to be watching.
Yeah, it was a failed pilot back in 1990 or so. According to IMDB, the person who wrote the episode was none other than Joss Whedon. (yup, THAT Joss Whedon)
They must be trying to really develop it now, rather than just be a straight-up, move-the-characters-from-the-theatre-to-the-TV like they've done with other movies. Remember when they tried to do that with My Big Fat Greek Wedding? (shiver)
