Or perhaps not: More talk about 'Grey's Anatomy,' Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight
You know that stuff Grey's Anatomy actor James Pickens Jr. said about co-stars Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight leaving the show at the end of the season? Yeah -- never mind about that.
That, at least, is the word from series creator Shonda Rhimes, who says flatly that reports about Heigl and Knight leaving are "not true."
"That was a very interesting rumor," Rhimes told People at the NAACP Image Awards Thursday night. She also says Pickens' remarks earlier this week were "absolutely taken out of context."
"Things happen, and ... I think rumors become fact very easily," Rhimes said. "And you know I don't like to tell you what's going to happen on the show -- but that is a rumor."
(Here we insert the obligatory background about Heigl making noise last year about not feeling like she got good material and reports that Knight has been unhappy with his diminished role on the ABC series. You know the story by now.)
Pickens, for his part, now says he wasn't speaking specifically about his fellow actors' future on the show. "We've been living with these rumors for a long time," he told the magazine. "When the question was posed to me, I was more trying to congratulate Katie and T.R. on whatever they were going to do. But yeah, I don't have any special info about it either way."
So when Pickens said "Yes, she is" in response to a question about whether Heigl was leaving Grey's Anatomy, he apparently wasn't speaking about any specific date. And ditto for Knight wanting "to pursue other career paths" -- you know, whenever, sometime in the future.
It's my job to report on this information, but man am I tired of it -- even moreso because the last few episodes have actually been pretty good, now that we're past the weird Denny's a ghost-no he's not story from early in the season. So if I could ask a favor of the Grey's cast and crew, it would be to keep trying to do good work, and bring all those "friends" and "spies" who are always being anonymously quoted talking about what you're doing in line. It's getting hard to watch the show without thinking about all the off-camera nonsense, and that does no one any good.

i for one DO NOT WANT either of them to leave! Izzie and George are critical members of what makes the Greys cast special... On a separate note, the crossover these last two weeks has had the net effect of illustrating why Greys needed Addison in the line up... Oddly enough - i can honestly say i would watch Private Practice - weather or not Addison was a cast member - the remaining cast is just that interesting. I became evident though - at least to me - that Greys needs her strength to open the dynamic between the other doctors up...
So, in other words, they're leaving.
coming, going, who cares? I just wish Izzy had less screen time and George had more. What a waste. I think George has had, what, 15 minutes of screen time? And Izzy - **** - I just know it's going to be a long, drawn out diagnosis/process and we are going to have a lot of watching her "cry". And now that Denny's gone - are we supposed to get what the hell that was? I actually quite like Denny, and so was happy to see him again, but sadly, it meant more dumb *** Izzy time. BLECH.
Translation...They are both as good as gone for S6...at the very best they may appear in the premiere to "tie up" loose ends;)
they are probably smart to jump off this sinking ship of a show.
I am over hearing the negative tone when reports are made or references are made about Katherine Heigl withdrawing her name from any nomination last year because she did not feel her storyline was worthy. I applaud her for being strong enough to stand up for what was the truth. her storyline, along with most all other storylines on Grey's last season were not good. And how many times have we had to muddle through an awards show with the same tired nominees year after year when they did not deserve to even be nominated!?!
I for one will be glad to see Izzie leave the show. I pray that Katherine doesn't think this years' story line was strong enough for her emmy time. Can you say, LAME? Ghost, not a ghost. Who cares?
So long Izzie.
PLEASE find George a story line...
Amen to that! I like both the characters of George and Izzie, but I am tired of hearing all the 'will they, won't they'. I just want to watch the friggin show without having to hear all the background nonsense.
I think both characters should have an accident and when the bandages come off there will be two new actors in their place. After what Heigl did with the Emmy people last year she should be releived of her role and there is no need in killing the character when you can get rid of the actor.
Oh, for God's sake, get rid of them already. They aren't very good anyway, and their storylines suck! I'm sooooo sick of Izzy in general. Let her fall into a deep psychosis and let her commit suicide. And George hasn't had a story line since he was dumped for the lesbian.
