Milo and Hayden: When is age an issue?
Let's have a show of hands of those who were relieved that Heroes stars Milo Ventimiglia and Hayden Panettiere finally split up.
Their romance has always creeped me out since it seemed like he was lying in wait for her -- not just for her to break up with Stephen Colletti -- but for her to become legal. Panettiere turned 18 in August 2007, and it was later that year that the Heroes stars started being seen publicly together.

But before you label me as ageist, I'll admit that a 12-year age gap isn't insurmountable (Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon are also 12 years apart). My problem is that at such a young age, Panettiere certainly hadn't achieved the maturity that helps balance out a more significant age gap that other couples face.
Let's not forget that Humphrey Bogart was easily 24 years older than Lauren Bacall when they first met and fell for each other on the set of To Have and Have Not. That's still considered one of the great on- and off-screen romances of our time.

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones can one-up them. He's 25 years older than she is to the day since they share the same birthday. That's a quarter of a century older.
You've also got Harrison Ford & Calista Flockhart (22-year difference), Naveen Andrews & Barbara Hershey (21 years), TomKat (15 years) and Demi Moore & Ashton Kutcher (also 15 years).
How old is too old? At what age does age not matter? Is age really nothing but a number?

I thought it was super creepy, especially since Hayden had turned 18 (he obviously liked her before she did), but she still looked all of 13.
She wasn't mature enough for a grown man. She's still a kid and needs to live a little, have fun, enjoy being so young.
I'm glad it's over since it was quite awkward, but still, the damage is done. She was too young. Had she been over 21, I wouldn't have cared for him being 12 years older or more. Bad move, Mr. Ventimiglia.
It matters more what age they are at when they are together, not the age difference. Someone who is 19 is not mature enough to date a 31 year old. But maybe if she was 30 and he was 42, it would work out better? They are just in different stages of their lives.
Nothing beats Richie Blackmore & Cadice Night. Yeah, not technically actors, and yeah, technically only 26 years apart, but their appearances is what seperates them from the rest. He looks his 63, but she looks younger than her 37 years. Wins on the creepy factor as well, first meeting at 18 & 45.

Bogie and Bacall were a lovely couple..beautiful. Stunning!! He was a wonderful actor, she still is one.

I don't see the big deal. Age is just a number, and we all know these "Hollywood types" grow up fast anyway. Whatever or who ever Hayden dates, it's her business. If it's a mistake, she'll learn from it and grow. That's what dating is all about anyway. Societal pressures dictate what is acceptable, but that does not work for everyone. The people that say "oh, she's too young to date someone so old" are the same people that will ask her at 27 when she plans to marry and have kids. That's because that's what society has programmed us to think. We're told what's right and wrong and what's acceptable and what isn't. Everyone is different and it's time everyone woke up and realized that - it's all subjective.
I love hearing Age is just a number, no its not really. Hayden is still a kid despite being 'legal' while Milo is old enough to know better. She's still figuring out things and experimenting around with relationships. She's supposed to make mistakes so I just chalked this up to that.

Age is just a number. Who cares how old they were. People have a relationship based on a connection not b/c of their age PLEASE!! My husband and I are 8 years apart and it's oerfect. Let us not forget Women mature faster than men, it's a fact. I'm 26 and I STILL would never date a man my age! LET'S WORRY ABOUT OUR OWN LIVES! Besides, Milo can do no wrong!
