'Lost': 'This Place is Death' recap is up, live Q&A upcoming

Elizabethmitchell_lost_s5_240

OK, that was some good Lost right there people. I'm drained, tired, confused, elated, and ecstatic all at once. Can they possibly keep up this up throughout the rest of the run? Let's hope so, because this season's shaping up to be one for the ages.

If you're ready to read the recap, go check it out. Over 3,000 words of Lost goodness there for you to consume. Jacob knows there's tons to discuss.

Programming note: live chat is back! Well, at least for one day, as I'll be hosting the first live Lost Q&A here on the blog with Los Angeles Times Lost guru Patrick Day. Things will go down here on Monday, February 16th, at 3 pm EST. Things should run for about 90 minutes, and if past chats are any indication, things should get pretty lively.

Don't worry: I'll still be answering all your longer, lingering "Death" questions as well, so WAAAAAALT or BLOOP your queries below for inclusion in the next edition of "Letters from the Flame."

So make sure to stop by this Monday and take part in the fun!

Ryan also posts every 108 minutes over at Boob Tube Dude, then peruses Zap2It's Guide to Lost Facebook group. He also encourages you to subscribe to the Zap2It's Guide to Lost Twitter feed.

Aaaah, the lonely Lost blog on the morning after. You guys can have your fun over at "It Happened Last Night". It's a wild place. Loved the rope into the ground trick last night but if, dear reader, you are presented with the opportunity to rappel into a dark ancient well, it's important to make sure that the rope can support you. JUST AS IMPORTANT: Make sure the rope reaches the bottom! (They ignored that last night.)
Also, do you think Locke will die once the jump is made? I hope not. He still has to establish his Jeremy Bentham persona.

I feel like I'm waking up on the couch the morning after a crazy bender.

Mornin' BotN, p*** the orange juice and Tylenol, would you?

BotN, you have to see this...

"Where's Mrs. Butterworth"

Haven't explored too much yet (it's a little embar***ing to be surfing nick.com in a professional office), but get a load of the syrup-filled hourgl***!

I've been wondering about this since the episode aired, and maybe before, but is it possible that Ben and Annie are Charlotte's Parents, and Ben made Annie and her daughter leave the island before the purge so they would be safe?

A newbie here, so forgive the comments that are so "obvious". Did I imagine it, or was Ben surprised when Desmond asked why they were at the church to see Faraday's mother. Did he not know she was his mother? My head is spinning! Oh, and my husband brought up a point (who knew he was listening!). Daniel has been in the past (at the Orchid station when it was being built?), and he did not seem to be a different age (nor had he showered-the boy needs a bath). Is it possible he is like Richard Alpert in that respect? Now I will sit down and be quiet while those with knowledge lead me. Ryan is my constant!

Todd, recall that one of the first things Ben did after meeting Charlotte in Season 4 was shoot her in the chest. That would be even worse parenting than Kate giving Aaron the nickname "Goober"!

Very cute, Andrei! Little do the little kids know, they're being conditioned for all sorts of btrwrthy murder.

I think we're gonna need a poll/odd's makers down the line on who is Charlotte's mom.

What was Rose's maiden name again?

WAAAAALLLLLTTTT

Given all the drama that grew out of "Bentham's" conversations with the Oceanic 6 & ***orted Exiles, I don't really buy the timeframe for Locke's departure from the Island. Jack, Kate and Walt all said that Locke spun quite the tale of all the misery and "very bad things" that happened after the Oceanic 6 left. But if all that bad stuff was just what we've seen in the last 5 episodes, what really happened? Lots of time travel, a few red shirts (and Frogurt) died, and Locke broke his leg; that's all. Seems like a far cry from a tragedy big enough to cause Jack to attempt suicide.

So is there more to it, or is this just a casualty of continuity between seasons?

Other Sean, from Locke/Bentham's POV, the "very bad thing" include the imminent deaths via nosebleed of everyone left on the Island. Given Jack's Messiah complex, I'm sure that news would hit him like a ton of bricks, especially when he finds out Bentham is dead and with it, any hope of getting back to the Island and "fixing" things.
