Doggone it: Mickey Rourke mourns passing of Chihuahua
Mickey Rourke, who notoriously thanked his dogs in his Golden Globe acceptance speech, is mourning the loss of one of his pups.
Loki, the actor's Chihuahua who accompanied the actor on the red carpet on occasion, went to doggy heaven on Monday.
"I'd like to thank all my dogs, the ones who are here and the ones who aren't here anymore," The Wrestler star said, accepting his award in January. "Sometimes, when a man is alone, that's all you got is your dog. And they've meant the world to me."
Everybody in the viewing audience did a double take, realizing that he was indeed referring to his dogs and not his "dawgs."
And while folks found the comment humorous, The Dish Rag's Elizabeth Snead notes how the sad news will cast a sobering light over this weekend's televised Oscar festivities, even if Rourke does win again.

What do you think about Rourke's attachment to his dogs?

Mickey Rourke has a bond and a relationship rather than an attachment to his dogs. I think that it is wonderful that he has his dogs who get him through whatever is going on is his life by not judging him and most importantly by their love.
Anyone who has never bonded with a dog has missed out on one of God's greatest gifts to humanity.
Aww, I'm sorry Mickey lost Loki but he gave Loki lots of love and a good life. Rest in Peace, little one. I'm glad he spoke up on the love we can have for and from our animal companions.
That's sad. He took Loki with him to Europe with him last December. He must have been especially close to him. I lost my wonderful cat Li'l Bear a year and a half ago. Found him as a feral kitten and developed a very strong bond and still miss him terribly. Thankfully, Mickey has his other pups to help ease the pain.
Unlike humans your dogs and cats love you no matter what. Loki you will be missed but Mickey knows someday you will be reunited at the Rainbow Bridge!
I wish I could be a dog at that moment so that I will be the one escorting Mickey Rourke. Thanks for sharing:)
Saw this sad news online yesterday. Those of us who've bonded with dogs know how tough it is when they p*** on. Losing a beloved pet is just like losing a member of the family. They ARE part of our family and Mickey had Loki for 18 years. I can certainly relate to that feeling of loss and sadness. I know he has several other dogs to ease the pain and, hopefully, an Oscar on Sunday!!
