Breaking: Will Brittany Snow Be 'Gossip Girl's' New Lily?
As I first reported back in January, Gossip Girl executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are working overtime to produce a Gossip Girl spin off centering around Serena's mommy as a teenager in 1980s Los Angeles. And now comes word that Hairspray and American Dreams alum Brittany Snow has been offered the lead role of young Lily. Sources surrounding the project say the-powers-that-be are currently negotiating with Brittany, and though her deal is not yet done, things are looking good.
If Snow's deal closes, she'll be working with Krysten Ritter (Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls) who was cast as Lily's older sister last month.
The pilot is set to air May 11 as a Gossip Girl episode (remember when Grey's did this for Private Practice a couple years back?).
Thoughts? I loved American Dreams and wept when it was prematurely canceled, so I'm definitely into the idea of Brittany as Lily. Think she should study Gossip Girl's Kelly Rutherford for Lily mannerisms or will you be okay with Ms. Snow doing her own unique interpretation of the future Mrs. van der Woodsen Bass?

I love Lily and am looking forward to seeing what she got up to, and why she was so screwed up for such a long time (i.e. marrying a stream of men and neglecting her children - which thanfully she has now rectified). The only bad think about the show so far is the casting of Krysten Ritter who I cannot stand.

Brittany Snow is great and even though I don't watch "Gossip Girl", her casting plus the brilliance that is Josh Schwartz plus a look back at the 80s all add up to one very watchable show!

I agree with Allie. I've despised Krysten Ritter since Gilmore Girls. She was merely annoying on Veronica Mars
I love Brittany Snow -- this makes me a lot more excited about this show.
Also, WTF is up with all the Krysten Ritter hating? I like her... she was great on Gilmore Girls.
Yay! I love GG and loved American Dreams, so I'm excited to hear Snow is cast as Lily. Although I don't think the show sounds that interesting (I mean, we already know what happens to Lily, right? I think I'd rather see a contemporary spinoff), I will definitely give it a shot now b/c of Snow. On the surface, casting seems good.
I hate Brittany Snow as Lily. Nothing against her personally, just don't think she has the right look or mannerisms. I still want Alona Tal as Lily!
I think Britt will be good! She was great on American Dreams. She doesn't look exactly like Kelly Rutherford, but who does?
