Exclusive: 'Gossip Girl' Spin Off to Center on a 1980s Teenage Lily
The rumored Gossip Girl spin off is alive and well. Inside sources tell me exclusively that executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage have started work on an original series, based on the 1980s teenage life of wild child Lily Rhoades (who we know now as Lily van der Woodsen Bass). The May 11th episode of Gossip Girl will reportedly double as this new series' backdoor pilot.
As I understand it, the premise is as follows: After a falling out with her well-to-do California parents, young Lily is forced to move in with her ne'er-do-well sister who's slumming it in the Valley. Suddenly without the means she's used to, Lily begins living two lives, often crossing "over-the-hill," trying to fit into the fast-paced Hollywood world as well.

BUt I really like this idea but the spin-off is still connected to Gossip Girl WITHOUT removing any of the main cast members of GG
I don't watch Gossip Girl but my love for Josh Schwartz still knows no bounds and I would definitely give this a try!
Eh. Can't say I'm all that crazy about the idea. Personally, I think it would make more sense to focus the spin-off on the new half brother! Maybe Josh Schwartz can even rework the old "Athens" pilot that Fox never got around to making.
sounds cool but i work on gg and we havent even been given word about season 3 yet let alone a spin off so id say your sources are inaccurate
