The days of kids being cute or merely bringing joy to our lives are gone. Forbes has determined that with such hard economic times, babies are valuable commodities too.
In the magazine's Hollywood's Hottest Tots list (their second annual, no less), Suri Cruise, the adorable TomKat offspring, wields the most power among her toddler cohorts. The heavily-banged munchkin pushed aside Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the Chosen One spawn of Brangelina, to hold aloft the sippy cup of victory in her grubby little fist.
But just what makes a toddler "hot"? This was a disturbing topic of discussion in the Zap2it offices since, by all rights, we only think of kids as cute or adorable or even precious, but never hot. Is there a toddler "Hot or Not" website out there where 3-year-olds log on to see if they've risen in the ranks amongst their alphabet-reciting peers?
Luckily, Forbes broke it down for us by how much media presence the kid had (press clippings, web images) over the course of a year. This data was then very unscientifically mixed together with info about the parents' appeal and general awareness of who the kid was.
And voila -- poor Shiloh has missed her chance to wear the tinker toy crown of power. But hey, at least she's more than a month younger than Suri, and we know that in the long run, younger is better. Right? After all, this list was only open to contenders 5-years-old and younger since we all know it's downhill once you hit 6.
The entire list breaks down thusly:

2. Shiloh Jolie-Pitt (bio daughter of Brangelina)
3. Zahara Jolie-Pitt (adopted daughter of Brangelina)
4. Pax Jolie-Pitt (adopted son of Brangelina)

6. Cruz Beckham (son of David & Victoria Beckham)
7. Matilda Rose Ledger (daughter of the late Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams)
8. David Banda (adopted son of Madonna and Guy Ritchie)
9. Sean Preston Federline (first son of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline)
10. Sam Sheen (older daughter of Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards)

OK - What happened to the babies of Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, oh and Jennifer Garner..?? Why are they not on that list..? And there are probably many more, I just can't think of them at this moment....
I must admit that little Suri TomKat is REAL Cute - takes after Mama Kat. Although, Halle Berry's baby looks real Cute, too - betcha SHE's gonna be a looker when she grows up - with a mom like that and a sexy goodlooking dad - she can't go wrong. Haven't seen Jess Alba's baby yet.

I couldn't care less about the kids' parents, most of whom are self-involved attention sluts, but who can look at some of those little faces and not go, "Awwwwww."
The term "hot" to describe a child, though, is disgusting. I'd expect it from a pedophile, not from a major magazine. And no, I don't take these things seriously, but a different adjective would be easier on the eyes (perhaps even a different term, like "Little Rich Kids" or "You Know They're Spoiled Rotten"). :)
