On one hand, the debut of Legend of the Seeker this weekend should be cause for happiness, the return of original scripted programming to a syndicated TV landscape dominated by tough-talking judges, paternity tests and makeovers.

Ending the controversial six-episode arc of Season 3's Fall with a Kate flashback might not have been the sanest thing the producers of Lost ever did. People were already fed up by the slow pace, the complete dominance of the Others, and the surfeit of screen time for two bozos we'd never seen before. But now? This is just the episode after Eko dies and the one before Juliet's ex gets pancaked by a bus. As such, it goes down much smoother. DVD is like a spoonful of sugar that way, people. It helps both the btwrth and the Kate flashbacks goes down much easier.
It's a big day, people. Whether you're carving pumpkins on Halloween eve or protecting your home from the perils of Devil's Night -- sorry, that's a Detroit reference -- please don't forget to tune your TV to NBC at 9:30 p.m. because 30 Rock premieres this evening. It's on right after The Office and, you know, even if you've already peeped the episode online, just leave your set on while Liz Lemon and her merry band of misfits do their thing tonight. The Emmy-winning comedy needs your vote of confidence. Or rather, the network it airs on needs to see numbers, so support!
End of an era, kids. How many of you had "Bernard" in the "last remaining Tailie neither killed nor brainwashed" office pool? Exactly. Here lies the sad tale of Mr. Eko: Nigerian warlord, unorthodox priest, polar bear snack, and smoke monster victim. The smoke monster had Paolo and Nikki right there for the killing, but no, it had to go kill a fan fave. That smoke monster's a lot like Ben Linus' version of fate: a fickle...well, you know what. I understand the behind the scenes reasons why this happened, but can any Lost fan truly argue that the show is better without Eko? I love the show more than peanut butter, y'all: but I miss this character something fierce.
Seems Courteney Cox's guest arc on Scrubs -- which will air on ABC early next year -- went quite well. Creator and exec producer Bill Lawrence was so pleased with her performance and on-set attitude that the two are teaming up again. Sources tell me exclusively that the former Friend will star in a single- camera comedy pilot for the alphabet net, tentatively titled Cougar Town, chronicling the day-to-day exploits of a hot single mother in her 40s whose social life is in high gear. Word is, Lawrence dreamed up the concept
specifically for Cox and is currently writing the first episode.
Now that we've seen Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth return to 90210, we pondered what other Beverly Hills, 90210 alum we'd like to reprise their roles on The CW.
