The Dancing With the Stars pros are inspirational ... or at least they were before two of them opened their big, fat mouths.

We're talking about Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Louis van Amstel, who both in the latest issue of TV Guide ragged on two of their fellow dancers -- Lacey Schwimmer and Cheryl Burke -- for adding a few pounds before the current season started.

Uhhhh, what? Sorry, but here at the Zap2it offices, we think Cheryl looks great. What, she's only like a Size 4 or 6 now? What gives? And Lacey looks just like the Lacey we knew from So You Think You Can Dance to us. Plus, they're both performing beautifully, so this moderate weight gain hasn't altered their abilities. And we just want to reiterate: They both look great.

"If you want to gain weight, it's your prerogative," Louis says. "We all put on weight because there was no summer tour, but you have to deal with the consequences.

"[People] look at this show to be inspired and think, 'If I just work hard enough, I can look like that,'" continues the genius. "If they watch someone who's dancing her butt off and she's still heavy, they can be discouraged. You have to take responsibility."

Even Maksim says that he advised the two women "to do something about this" when the season began.

Heavy? Are we looking at the same people here?

Even by Hollywood standards, this critique is beyond ridiculous. Next, they'll be supporting the skeletal frames of Shenae Grimes and Jessica Stroup on 90210. Sorry, Louis and Maksim, but you're the ones who have to take responsibility ... for your words. All we need are more young women starving themselves to fit such narrow ideals.

And yes, we are a society of increasingly obese people, but they're not on ABC. Try over at The Biggest Loser.

I think Lacey and Cheryl look great. There's a difference between being curvy and being fat. As long as you're in shape and your body can do what it needs to, who cares?

Okay, I think Maksim is hot, but let's be real, these young women are far more talented and have more fit bodies than the anorexic bodies on the likes of Gossip Girl or 90210 or HS Musical! I actually thought Cheryl looked better than ever this season. I suffered from an eating disorder for a long time - now I am a Pilates instructor and my body is fuller than it used to be but far healthier. I used to equate the word healthy with fat but, after weeks wasted in a hospital to get my body to recover, I realize that healthy is healthy! Sure, Edyta and Julianne have great, healthy bodies and are very thin, but people have different body types! Go Cheryl and Lacey!!!!! Normal bodied women can dance!

I think Cheryl and Lacey look great! Cheryl may have gained a few pounds, but she looks curvier and not unhealthy. This goes to Eva Longoria Parker on "Desperate Housewives," as well. She gained some pounds for the show, but I think she looks even better with some curves. All these ladies are fine and as long as they don't get into unhealthy levels-either too thin or too overweight-then it's nothing to worry about. Shame on these guys for saying these hurtful comments. Go Cheryl and Lacey!

Maksim and Louis are disgusting. I'd been put off by Maksim's ego in the past, but this is a new low for both guys. It's shocking enough that they would even think this about these obviously toned, fit and gorgoeus girls. What's more shocking is that they would be stupid and rude enough to say these things in an interview! They need to think before they speak. And if they really cared about their costars, they would tell them their concerns in private, not to TV Guide. What pigs!

Agreed. These women are athletes and don't want or need to be skeletal. Nor do we women out there in the audience. Men, with their more muscular bodies and larger size, have a metabolic advantage in the weight game. Shame on these guys. They should be more sensitive to what all women are up against in being expected to be wraiths. I think Lacey and Cheryl look--and what's more important--dance great!

I think seeing healthy looking women dancing their butts off would inspire me more. I know I will never look like the stick figures on 90210 and don't want to! I have been watching Lacey since SYTYCD and she is as sexy now as she was then! These two men are pigs!

She gained weight in both her boobs - due to massive implants. I don't see them complaining about that, though - even that prissy little diva, Louis!

Both of these male pros are idiots with low IQ. No wonder they've never won any DWTS championship.
Discourage? No way, it's inspiring to see them dancing amazingly on the floor. It encourages heavy or weighty people to join the fun in dancing.
ABC or Disney should be congratulaed to ge a diversity of stars from the very young to the very old, Cloris..
BTW, I read in another blog, I couldn't hep but laugh : Amsel looks old, older than corky ballas, although he is thin he looks like a a dried -up scarecrow, a poster person for Halloween, therefore his private parts might also look like a dried-up prune...that goes to show just because your're thin, you're necessarily attractive.
Lacey and Cheryl looks succulent and kissable...

Maksim, the reason you cannot win, you don't have a glow in your heart, very unkind person.

At the beginning of the season I though Cheryl looked fat, but she's cleaned up since. I never could stand Lacey and think she's ugly, but it has nothing to do with her weight.

Hmmm... sounds like 'sour grapes' from Maks and Louis. Maybe they're just jealous that Cheryl has already won DwtS twice, and that Lacey has done well on BOTH SYTYCD and DwtS. It seems like Maks and Louis were looking for some publicity now that they aren't in this season's competition anymore.

Over the past seasons, I have heard that these two pros had egos, but this is a new low. There will be a lot of tension backstage if Maks and Louis are invited back for future seasons. DwtS is arguably the second most popular reality show in America (I consider American Idol to be the first). So why are Maks and Louis publicly cutting down their fellow pro dancers? Maybe Cheryl gets paid more, or maybe they think Cheryl (and Lacey) were given better celebrity partners? Who knows what they were thinking?

I have been watching DwtS since the first episode, and I don't think Cheryl and Lacey are too "fat" to be dancers. They are both curvy and in good enough shape to keep up with the rest of the pros. Take for example, Toni Braxton. She recently said in an interview that she is too thin and can't really gain weight. However, Toni herself admitted that her doctors said she has a weak heart and trouble breathing when she does the dance routines. Now tell me, who is more "fit" to dance? Cheryl and Lacey (who are curvy), or Toni Braxton (who is very petite but has a heart condition)?
Also, the very thin Susan Lucci was told that she looked "frail" by Carrie Ann after her first dance!

Lacey Schwimmer and Cheryl Burke are too fat. They need to loose about 15 lbs. of muscle mass just to appear decent on TV. Perhaps with some surgical alcohol and cocoa poisoning they can look like the future Hollywood waifs you see being produced in sub-Saharan Africa.

(Malnourishment is a serious blight not only in sub-Saharan Africa, not helped by the continual strife in that region, but in India and Central America as well.)

I say DWS should put a temporary moratorium on idiotic foreign-born male dancers who think they are hot stuff. Let's go with all-American guy professionals for a while - I'm sure there are plenty of them who would take the job.

As for Lacey and Cheryl - I'd love to be seen with either of those two HOT ladies.

Cheryl's weight gain was very noticeable by the rolls on her back. If you are going to be on TV then you SHOULD BE extra skinny. This isn't real life - it's TV. If I wanted to see heavy women I would go to the mall.

They are kinda fat for dancers. They are not actresses, so you can't compare them to that, but as far as dancer bodies, they're quite pudgy!
