NBC is back on iTunes
A year after it yanked its product from iTunes in a pricing dispute, NBC Universal has reversed course and struck a new deal with Apple.
The agreement puts shows from NBC and its myriad cable networks back on the dominant download service. Effective Tuesday (Sept. 9), The Office, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica and 30 Rock, among many others, became available on iTunes again, with a key episode from each top series offered for free to get fans geared up for the coming season.
"The return of our shows to iTunes is terrific news for everyone who loves television and the ease and convenience of Apple's iTunes," NBC Universal president and CEO Jeff Zucker says. "And now, by offering consumers a variety of new options, our fans have even more ways to enjoy our content."
The "new options" Zucker speaks of include season passes to shows at discounted prices; high-definition downloads (at $2.99 each, compared to $1.99 for standard-def versions); and older shows like The A-Team and Miami Vice for 99 cents each.
NBC will also offer iTunes downloads of new series Knight Rider, Kath & Kim and My Own Worst Enemy a week before their season premieres. (NBC is also doing sneak peeks of some of its returnees at its streaming-video site Hulu.)
NBC Universal severed its relationship with Apple last year, claiming it wanted more freedom to set prices on the service (Zucker even went so far as to say Apple had "destroyed the music business" with iTunes). Apple, for its part, said NBC wanted to raise the per-episode price for downloads to as much as $4.99.

I need shows I take with me on my iPod. Bones was one 2 years ago when I first got it but I watch that solely on my big *** set in HD now. So my iPod list for this year should look like:
Dirty Sexy Money
My Own Worst Enemy
Private Practice
Maybe CSI or CSI NY
I love WAY too many shows. I currently watch all these:
24, Battlestar Galactica, Bones, Brothers & Sisters, Chuck, Criminal Minds, Eli Stone, Eureka, Friday Night Lights, Heroes, LOST, NCIS, Numb3rs, Prison Break, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Smallville, Stargate Atlantis, Burn Notice, Californication, Fringe, Life on Mars, Knight Rider (2008), The Mentalist, Pushing Daisies
How Jeff Zucker keeps his job is a wonder.
During his reign, NBC went from the first place network to the last. He tried to beat Steve Jobs and lost.
btw. IIRC Heroes never left iTunes, because, while it's shown on NBC, it's owned by Warner Bros.
Anybody know which episodes are free?
