'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' trailer review

Troy and Gabriella worked it out before, but can they survive senior year?

By now, you should have seen the highly anticipated High School Musical 3: Senior Year trailer on the official Disney site. Besides the all the exciting song and dance numbers, which we shall visit in a moment, let's look at the biggest hint that not everything will go well for our favorite Wildcats.

In the trailer is the following exchange between Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron's characters, Gabriella and Troy:

Gabriella: I'm a lot better at saying goodbye than you.
Troy: Why are you saying goodbye?

If you recall, Gabriella was the new girl in the first HSM, always moving from place to place and thus making it difficult to make lasting friendships. She was able to stick it out and finish high school in the same place though, but now what happens? Will the couple go their separate ways when college beckons?

And it's true that besides moving from place to place, Gabriella has always found it easier to say bye. I mean, in HSM2, she had a whole song, "Gotta Go My Own Way" when she and Troy took a temporary break from singing, dancing, gazing into each other's eyes and looking cute together. Hmm, I wonder if Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) will be waiting in the wings for Troy again?

The plot -- if you really wanna know -- revolves around the Wildcats staging an elaborate spring musical that lets them voice their experiences so far and their hopes and fears for the future after high school.

The trailer is cut so fast and furious, it's difficult to catch a glimpse of all the action and dance numbers we can look forward to. But as expected this dance extravaganza includes some hoofing on the basketball court, in the school hallways and a really fun dance in the rain with Zac and Vanessa.

The two lovebirds also get a romantic duet mid-game as all of sudden the cheering crowd and other players fade to the background as Zac and Vanessa get the spotlight(she's in the bleachers, he's on the court) and sing soulfully to each other across the gym before the action resumes.

As always, Sharpay is always outshining her brother Ryan (Lucas Grabeel) and they're joined by Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Matt Prokop, Justin Martin, Jemma McKenzie-Brown and Olesya Rulin.

All in all, it's a pretty good trailer and will be the first of many probably before the film hits theaters on Friday, Oct. 24.
