'Greek' Season Two: What's On Tap

Cast4_greek_240 Ahhh, College Spring Break. It didn't turn out to be the time of Rusty or Calvin's life. Actually, I don't think any of the main characters had a particularly debaucherous, carefree week. But the episode itself did not disappoint. My favorite exchange of the evening definitely came when Calvin dug into Rusty for judging the industrious Omega Chis, and the always funny Dale (Clark Duke, pictured left with Jacob Zachar and Paul James) interjected:

Calvin: What about your fraternity? You think the Kappa Taus are such good guys because they're laid back and aren't ambitious? Since when did ambition become such a terrible attribute?
Dale: I think in the 80s.

Ha! Yes, this is the humor I adore Greek for.

So, now that the first season is over, we're all wondering what is to come. Thankfully, my one-on-one with creator Sean Smith yielded many an answer, so as promised, part two of our viewer Q&A...

From Barrett: Does anyone know how many episodes are being produced for next season?
Although I'm told that the network ordered a total of 12 more episodes, they will complete an order of ten for season two. Says Sean, "The next ten will [comprise] second season and will pick up just a few days after Spring Break and finally complete the first academic school year, setting up where everybody's going for their Summer vacation." Because of the two extra episodes approved by the network, I'm thinking additional hours will soon be ordered as well, so stay tuned for an announcement.

Jacobzachar2_greek_240 From Kara: I loved the Greek finale last night. Thank you for your scoop last week! Keep it coming. Also, I'm wondering, if season one ends at Spring Break, what's gonna happen in season two?
They're heading into end of the year stuff: campaigning and presidential elections for Casey, the initiation of the pledges, hell week and Rusty finally becoming an active in the house. "The pledges will be [at the end of their rope], sick of all the grunt work, threatening to drop out. There will be a lot of conflict there. And now that we've seen Rusty have this journey through the fraternity system, we're also going to explore his Polymer science side," Sean shared. "In doing so, we're creating a new character named Max, who is the resident advisor for Calhoun Hall. This guy comes in and just kind of inspires Rusty to focus on his science side. It's kind of a crisis of confidence for Rusty, where he's like, well maybe Polymer science isn't my thing because it's really weird and abstract. But through Max, we get to see why Rusty kind of fell in love with it in the first place."

From Rei: Korbi, if Casey has to have another guy next season, can it be Dale? That would be entertainment right there.
Ha, I feel ya, but somehow I don't see that happening. No, we will meet Casey's new love interest in the second episode back, and though it won't be Dale, it will be a smart dude who shares similar academic interests.

Scottmichaelfoster_greek_240 From Zara: Thanks for the Greek secrets! You got me all excited for the finale, which I thought was really good. But I don't get it, are Cappie (Scott Michael Foster, pictured left) and Rebecca done or not? Seems like they're still together.
Cappie and Rebecca are not quite done, no. But I think her father's scandal and upcoming issues with her family will ultimately end the romance. Let's let Mr. Smith explain: "You know, we've seen this couple sort of exist for fun. In the beginning, it was just a fling and they had a honeymoon period. But her dad and all the hurt she suffers brings a sense of reality that becomes too much for this couple that's just been all about having a good time. The door certainly isn't completely closed, but from Rebecca's perspective, it's sort of like, I have way too much reality going on in my life right now and I'd rather not weigh this carefree guy down with my political cross to bear."

From P: I heard Charisma Carpenter's coming back for the second season premiere of Greek. What other guest stars will we see again?
As I mentioned before, Michael (Max Greenfield) will be back as Calvin's love interest. However, I'm sure you remember Calvin's old friend Heath. He'll be back too and now that they're both out of the closet, their relationship will evolve, much to Michael's dismay. The Hotness Monster will make a return appearance next season, as you might have guessed, but his storyline won't quite go the way you would assume. Dean Bowman (aka Ferris Bueller's Cameron) Alanruck_240_001_3 won't be around as much, but the show loves Alan Ruck (pictured right) and do expect to see more of him. And though Zeta Beta enthusiast Lizzy has now been gone for some time, she hasn't been forgotten. There is a real possibility of Senta Moses perhaps popping up again...

I so heart you, Korbi. Finally. Rusty will be an active. And, yeah. I did a little inner happy dance at the thought of Cappie and Rebecca breaking up. Not gonna lie.

I want to know if this is going to be a will she pick Ben or Noel kinda thing. Cappy and Casey are clearly meant for each other, but until they really get together, I hope the show avoids the Felicity thing. Show Casey growing outside of those relationships. Stop with the big tease already. We already know she'll pick one eventually.

No, Michael, they clearly mean to show that Casey belongs with Cappie, not Evan. Still I like Cappie with Rebecca!

good scoop. wonder if they'll ever bring Jen K back.

wha he be

i don't see that casey/cappie are meant to be. and he is great with rebecca for me they are the it couple i just love everything about them and for the most part she is a surprisingly undemanding girlfriend and when she does get crazy he can put her back ion track with very little effort.

I may seem to be the only one here but, personally, I want Casey and Evan back together. The whole anecdotal fight/dark side to their relationship was interesting to start off with but, as I am a fan of the two, I would like to see it come around again for them.

I sincerely hope that they are not intending to make Evan and Franny a long lasting thing. Although, it is refreshing to not be constantly in the same love triangle, I can't say that was not one of the reasons I watched the show, it is. Not just between who Casey chooses but also the relationship between Cappie and Evan as well. I do think, or should say I hope blindly, that with each of the men off with other women, and Casey supposedly off with a new love interest in the short term, they will be able to work on bringing their relationship to the fore and work on that...

I can hope can't I?

Can't wait for this show to return!!

When did you start at Zap2it?

I always enjoyed it when you helped Kristen..you will be great on Zap2it. Are you going to have a podcast? A TV spoiler cast is missing from podcasts. I bet you would be great.
