Chillin' with 'My Boys'
This weekend, the cast of My Boys got together to play a little poker and talk about the show's new season, which debuts in just a couple days. I ran around the place taking pictures like a lunatic fan and trying to get a little scoop out of the guys. Behold the fruits of my labor...
Mike Bunin told me his character Kenny takes a new approach with the ladies this season and his efforts will pay off. "Kenny's doing well this year," he said. Interesting fact: Did you know that My Boys is based upon a real-life weekly poker game organized by creator Betsy Thomas? A poker game, which Mike has been a part of for years. So is Kenny based on Mike? "Yeah, well, pretty much!," he admitted.
"At work this week, we heard about someone at Zap2it who had written something about who ends up on the plane with P.J...?" Yes, that was me, I confessed to Kyle Howard, who plays Bobby. But I didn't spoil it, I just teased it!, I told him. "That's cool. I love that," he said. "We decided that if someone cares enough to write about the show, that's awesome." Kyle confirmed that my scoop on Bobby's engagement to Andy's hot nanny is indeed happening, but not before he and Brendan go head-to-head for her affections.
"Yeah, Brendan's not doing so well this season," Reid Scott said. "He's kind of on a downward spiral, but it's really fun stuff to play." Reid mentioned that he's sharing a lot of screen time with Jim Gaffigan (Andy) this year: "I love it. The guy is so great to work with. And he's so much fun to make fun of. He's like the easiest target!" No worries for Gaffigan. Word is the guy can hold his own when it comes to the smack talk. He is a professional stand up after all.
"Mike is pretty much crashing and burning with the women this season," Jamie Kaler said of his character. "It's pretty sad... but at the end of the season I get to make out with Mimi Rogers, so that's awesome!" Awesome, indeed. My Boys is welcoming several great guest stars in these next nine episodes, including Nia Vardalos and Happy Gilmore's Christopher McDonald. "It's awful," Mike Bunin told me. "The man's been in all these great movies and I ask him about Happy Gilmore. I had to. I mean, come on, he's Shooter McGavin!"
Yeah, so I didn't get as much one-on-one time with series star Jordana Spiro as I should've -- probably because I was busy stalking the boys and also because she was the party's main attraction, posing here with a friend. But I can tell you that she's incredibly sweet and is looking very sexy these days. P.J.'s love search resumes this Thursday, June 12th, on TBS, so don't forget to tune in. If you haven't yet checked My Boys out, there's no reason not to just jump in now. It's really a cute show.

Thanks for the My Boys scoop Korbi! I cannot wait for this show to return (and to find out who was on the plane...) P.S. I totally would've been taking pictures too, so you wouldn't have been the only "lunatic fan", lol.
"Kyle confirmed that my scoop on Bobby's engagement to Andy's hot nanny is indeed happening, but not before him and Brendan go head-to-head for her affections."
I'm sure you meant to type "he and Brendan".
Ok so I've never seen My Boys, is it worth catching up on? Really?
Alica, it's really a pretty cute show. Last year's "Douchebag Intervention" was one of the funniest TV moments.
Personally, most of the cable shows during the summer are good but heavy. It's a light show that's pretty clever and very realistic. And as a Midwestern who knows a lot about Chicago, I like it more than most.
yes, yes, Kathy, that's just what i meant. thanks for the grammar catch, appreciated... btw, i forgot to mention that Nia Vardalos is also guesting. just added that to the story. Mike Bunin told me they're good friends.
Korbi, I love your job. :D
Let me know if you ever want to trade. haha.
You're welcome, Korbi. Anything I can do to help. :-)
I'm not sure what value you are to this website. I get much more information from TVGal (and it was two days earlier). I won't be back.
Wow, Jason. You couldn't simply stop checking the site? I don't think Korbi is taking anything away from TV Gal. In fact since Korbi's role of E! was actually pretty similar to TV Gal's, Korbi's actually working more on spoilers (like the blogger formerly known as Wanda) than episode previews/reviews on Zap2it. Given that it is also SUMMER, when spoilers tend to be less in demand and harder to obtain, it would be considerate of you to reserve your comments to something constructive like requests for specific spoilers. Thanks:-).
Alicia - it's DEFINITELY worth catching up on.
Jim Gaffigan alone is reason enough. That man is hiarious!
