'Lost': The final countdown
Well, here it is, my little chickadees...the day in which we'll see the season finale of Lost. It's been a long, strange trip over these past few months here on the blog, and I'd like to think we here at Zap2It have done a small part in helping you enjoy the show a bit more. If nothing else, we've taught you to fear a certain breakfast condiment, so there's that, at least.
Since last October, I've tried to give you all the scoop, all the theory, and all the analysis your Lost-addled brain could possibly handle. And in doing so, you've helped turn this one-man operation into a world-spanning collective endeavor. I'd like to think of it in terms of the show: if my first entry was a shot of Jack Shephard's eye opening in the pilot episode, then what you see now is Benjamin Linus laying the verbal smackdown on Charles Widmore, announcing the world war about to ensue. Just as the show's grown in scope, so has your involvement. And readers, this blog's about you, not me. You've made your own kind of music, and it's been fantastic to hear every note over the past few months.
So, in that vein, I'm stepping aside in the remaining hours before the final two hours of "There's No Place Like Home," and cede the floor to you all. Share what you hope will happen. What you fear will happen. What secrets you want revealed. What reunions you wish to see. And what partings you hope to avoid. All I ask is that you keep your comments spoiler-free so all may enjoy the final two hours of Season 4 with untainted eyes. (Except for you viewers with glaucoma...not much I can do for ya, sorry.)
In addition, feel free to use the comments below to talk about the episode as it airs, as well as a forum to air your thoughts immediately afterwards. I'll be posting my final recap of the season over at It Happened Last Night a few hours after the episode airs. And do not fret: while Lost may be going on hiatus, this blog will not be taking such a break. I've got big plans for you all in the interim. Don't you worry.
So leave your thoughts, comments, and insight below. And, in honor of the title of this entry, I'll leave you a little music to enjoy as you post your comments in the waning moments before the best two hours this television season has to offer.
Ryan also posts every 108 minutes over at Boob Tube Dude.

This almost reminds me of standing in line for, oh, six hours or so to catch one of several viewings of The Empire Strikes Back when it first premiered. The difference, of course, is that I was eleven...and still had decent knees...and didn't mind standing between a guy who smelled like Jabba the Hutt's underside on a wet day, and a girl whose hair likely had been used to buff Turtle Wax off of her AMC Gremlin. Nowadays, I have neither the health nor the patience to deal with such folk, so it is with great pleasure that I can sit at my trusty-dusty desktop and await the season finale with all of you. Sure, we likely will never meet face-to-face, but then you won't have to worry about seeing me in my bathrobe at one in the morning, either. Actually, that's not as bad as seeing me in my bathrobe before I've had my two cups of coffee during breakfast. Think Wookie with a broken toe walking through Wal-Mart during the Christmas rush. In any case, it's been (mostly) a treat, and it'll seem a little odd to not have any new shows to watch for quite awhile. Thank God for DVDs, hm? In any case, talk to you all after the show!
Well, I for one have really enjoyed being a part of this blog. Alot of my friends don't watch Lost, and those that do never want to analyze and scrutinize the episode like I and everyone else here enjoys.
Top 3 things I want to see:
1) The Island move temporally. Geographically is fine too, but as much as everyone has mixed feelings about time travel, I think it'd really be cool.
2) I want the man (or woman?) in the coffin to be someone totally unexpected.
3) A scene between Locke and Richard Alpert. I'm not talking a Season 3 "Ben doesn't like you" talk, I mean a full-on, "I've been waiting for you for a long time" heart-to-heart.
Top 3 things I don't want to see:
1) Jin die. Seriously, that's just too much. I mean, we got 2 hours to fill, so they have time to give him a Charlie-level goodbye, but not only would it be sad, but it would leave Sun with very little motivation to return to the Island. As for Michael, he's allowed to die, as long as he gets his redemption first.
2) I don't want to see the reason and method for the Oceanic 6's departure to be something anti-climactic. I mean, that's subjective, but I just want it to be amazing.
3) A Penny/Desmond reunion. It's too soon.
Top 3 outlooks for next year(granted, this is *before* I know any new info from the season finale):
1) Sawyer (if he lives) becomes the leader of the Left Behinds. I suppose John still could be around, but I think he's going to continue to focus on his destiny - especially if moving the Island turns out bad.
2) Moving the Island turns out bad. This one's a no brainer, because it won't let Jack die and continues to speak to the Oceanic 6, in varied and mysterious ways.
3) Walt and/or Aaron become vital in getting the Oceanic 6 back to the Island, especially if Ben is the man in the coffin or if he can't get back either.
What I don't want to see:
1. Sawyer or Jin die. I am afraid though, very afraid.
2. More of whiny Jack. Boo hoo I have a great job and my fiance has the nicest *** in the history of mankind. Grow a set wouldja? And how many bad decisions can one guy make?
What I want to see:
1. Ben in the coffin. It's the only character that makes sense to me.
2. More of Kate's ***.
I've really begun to think that Jin will be one of the characters to die tonight. The whole m***ive amount of C4 on the freighter and the way Sun walked away from the cabin just gives me the impression things won't be pretty.
I'd also really like to see Alpert and Locke finally discuss what they started way back when. Although this might be something more effective for the final season.
On a side note, I'm sure I'm not the only one to find this (so forgive me if this is super old), but I was looking on Amazon.ca for Lost DVDs and found an interesting sponsored link: http://www.hansoair.org/
It simply boggled my already hyped-up-for-Lost-tonight mind.
Agreed, Bluenoser. I posted as much over a month ago (regarding Jack). And it started an off-island war. I think I was a little more subtle regarding Kate's ***ets.
On another note, I'm hoping to see, next season, Jack returning to the island to find a different Sawyer. Still wisecracking, of course, but a truly content character. That'd be the ultimate stick in Jack's close-up eye.
BotN: I figured someone else would be tired of Jack's antics. I'd love to see more of Sawyer next year, he's my favorite character. Loved his line "You don't get to die alone." when he followed Jack off into the jungle. But honestly, as many mistakes as Jack has made, people still follow him so who's more to blame?
I find it interesting how the O6 are mostly separated at the end of the last episode. Can't wait to see how they all get together. But then there's the long wait until S5.
Well here we are. I stumbled across this blog before season 4 looking for details about the season 3 blu ray Acces Granted featurette and I quickly became a permanent resident.
Thanks to everyone for such creative and funny input throughout the season. It significantly increased my enjoyment of the show.
I know lately there's been a bit of friction over a certain abusive wibbly leader, but it looks like we're getting through that patch (of chest hair) and back on track onto the juicy, juicy theories that we all love.
I hope the finale is everything you hope it to be and none of it you don't. Enjoy the show and I'm glad to have you guys around to help get through the painful 8 month hiatus that is about to begin.
Thank you, Namaste and good luck!
LOLOLOLOL
At first I was jealous.
My buddy just watched the screener of tonights episode.
Funny thing is, it's missing the last 15-20 minutes! (and the copy didn't label it either)
He came out of his office with a red face, muttering "the bastards".
Hee hee hee hee
Seriously, I predicted this show's demise after the last major hiatus and was pleasantly surprised by the strength of it's return. This blog has the best posters on the interweb and I know that we...can..get...through...this!
Well, Other Sean covered it pretty well; can't think of much to add at this point.
Except it would be nice to see Miles or Charlotte - esp Charlotte - do something truly useful or remarkable on the island. So far, they've mostly been window dressing. Miles has had a fair bit more to do, but still not enough. It's like they keep hinting at great things (for/from him) but have yet to truly deliver. Charlotte just seems to be there to look annoyed, angry and/or put upon, usually with respect to whatever Daniel says/does.
i am soooooooooo excited/sad for tonight's epi, i don't even want to speculate. amd just going to sit back and let it ride.
it's going to be a long break. but ryan will pull us through. maybe we should all meet somewhere for pancakes... :-)
