'Lost': Make your own kind of music
We're going to have a little fun here today on the Lost blog: a musical association game, in fact. Here's today's assignment for you, dear readers: assign the perfect theme song for your favorite characters from the show.
The song choices should be thematically related in some way, shape or form. Extra bonus points if the reference makes everyone else giggle while nodding their head in agreement. And since I'm putting you to work, it's only fair I pull in my share as well. These are five I arrived at with the help of my lovely wife this evening. Characters can have multiple songs assigned to them. Heck, I'd love it if certain characters ended up with their very own mix tape's worth of appropriate tunage.
So leave your best song choices below! In the meantime, enjoy these little ditties.
Jack Shephard: Coldplay, "Fix You"
Kate Austin: Fiona Apple, "Criminal"
Charles Widmore: David Bowie, "The Man Who Sold The World"
Desmond Hume: The Cure, "Picture of You"
Penelope Widmore: Sam and Dave, "Hold On, I'm Coming"
Ryan also posts every 108 minutes over at Boob Tube Dude.

First (I think)! I think Jack would benefit from some time in "Rehab" (Amy Winehouse). Guy got some drinking and daddy problems.
And for some reason, when I think of Ben, I hear the stalker's anthem that is "I'll be watching you" by the Police.
And Id' say the overall song of Lost could be either "Mad World" by Gary Jules or "Hotel California" by the Eagles (you can't really never leave!).
How about some Beatles songs.
Yeah, I'm old.
You're Gonna Lose That Girl -
Sawyer (to Jack)
Nowhere Man - Jacob
Revolution - Ben
Magical Mystery Tour - O6
Ryan, looks like you double-linked David Bowie's song, instead of The Cure's.
Also, I don't know if you realize, but ABC made their own music videos of the Lost characters at the start of the season, and Kate's actually was "Criminal" by Fiona Apple. Jack's was "Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)" by Robert Palmer, Sawyer's was "Bad to the Bone" by George Thorogood & the Destroyers, and Locke's was "Crazy" by Patsy Cline.
My picks
Jack - "Sorrow" by Bad Religion. Some sample lyrics:
"Father can you hear me?
How have I let you down?" "Just to settle a bet that could not be won between a prideful father and his son" "Will you guide me now for I can't see a reason for the suffering and this long misery. What if every living soul could be upright and strong? Well then I do imagine"
Kate - "Stacy's Mom" by Fountains of Wayne. A song about the hottest MILF in the neighborhood. Just change "Stacy" to "Aaron" and we're set.
Ben - "I'll Be Watching You" by the Police. Someone above already mentioned it, but it was already on my mind. Cause on the one hand, it's got Ben following Widmore, the mutual spying, etc. On the other hand, the line "Oh can't you see? You belong to me" is eerily reminiscent of Ben's line to Juliet in "The Other Woman."
OK Here's my shot and I'm a gonna take it. It's going to seem like I'm drunk driving, but sing the songs to yourself and if you're not nodding your head, you haven't been paying attention. Please, don't let the song selection date me too much!:
Jack -- "Get Back" by the Beatles "Get back to where you once belong...Get back Jo-Jo!"
Kate -- "She's Like The Wind" by Patrick Swayze Why? Because she is... and NO ONE puts baby in the corner, dammit!
Ben -- "Behind Blue Eyes" by The Who..."No one knows what it's like...to be the bad man...to be the sad man...behind blue eyes."
Sawyer -- "The Joker" by Steve Miller Why? Because he's had a lot of names, he really loves "peaches", and he's shaken a few trees.
The Island -- Yes, the Island is a character so here it goes..."Time is On My Side" by The Rolling Stones...Sing the lyrics yourself and they make perfect sense. "You'll come running back...you'll come running back...to me!"
Rose & Bernard -- "Jungle Fever" by Stevie Wonder...Sure it's a little blatant, and thus, receives the honor of my weakest entry.
Charlie -- "You All Everybody" by Drive Shaft...Why? Because my Best of Drive Shaft album has only one track!
Smokey -- "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" by the Platters...just a cl***ic song (way before most of your times) but apropos.
Mr. Friendly -- "YMCA" or "Relax" sorry, another roll-your-eyes entry and a cheap-shot. Sue me.
Locke -- "Faith" by George Michaels...Sure, Eli Stone (or whatever the Ally McBeal knockoff show calls itself), kinda co-opted this tune, but I like how it plays with Locke.
That's all I've got for now (believe it or not I've got to get back to work). Great topic Ryan!
Here's another video that reminds me of Jack:

Jack - Psycho (System Of A Down)
Kate - Complicated (Avril Lavigne)
Charles Widmore - You Got The World In Your Hands (someone I don't recall)
And those are just from the top of my head

I hope Eli Stone dies of Ebola.
Locke - you gotta go with "Bungle in the Jungle" by Jethro Tull
Jack - "Loser" by Beck
Juliette - "Cold Hard *****" by Jet (still haven't forgiven her for the outing of Sun's affair)
Desmond - "Go Back in Time" Huey Lewis and the News (that's a gimme)
Kate - i think "Criminal" is about as good as it gets for her
Ben - i'm on board with "Behing Blue (bug) Eyes"
that's about all i have for now...
