I'm torn on the most appropriate way to describe Showtime's new drama series The Tudors. Is it more truly "A Wikipedia entry with boobs" or "The history of Henry the 8th as told by TMZ"? Either way, The Tudors is a series made for people who like a little splash of history mixed in with their... More »

Chris Sligh may have been voted off of American Idol on Wednesday (March 28) night, but talking to reporters on Thursday, the booted contestant expressed no regret. In fact, Sligh admits that he nearly self-truncated his Idol run. "I never came into this wanting to win it," he swears. "I come from an indie alternative rock... More »

Survivor: Fiji just hasn't hit its stride yet, but things are bound to become exciting eventually, right? Perhaps Thursday (March 29) night's show will get the adventure going. Pre-credit sequence. Ravu lost last week and had to vote somebody off. That stinks. In addition, they already have to live in the run-down camp with minimal rations.... More »

I've pretty well exhausted my well of adjectives to describe how much I love Friday Night Lights, so I'll just open the floor to you to discuss last night's fantastic "Mud Bowl" episode, one of the show's two or three best episodes this season. Some possible topics: Landry (the fabulous Jesse Plemons) holding a copy of... More »

I double-checked, and tonight's episode of Lost was not directed by George Lucas. It just felt that way a few times, with its "special edition"-like splicing in of newbies Nikki and Paolo into old footage. While that was a nice piece of editing, particularly in the crash scene, it has to be asked: Is this a... More »

American Idol fans, let's take pause, for just a second, to enjoy these blissfully brief 30-minute results shows while we still can. If having to watch 'Til Death is the price we pay for less filler, then so be it, says I. Wednesday (March 28) night's Idol results show begins with host Ryan Seacrest taking the... More »

Just saw the much-ballyhooed kiss between Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston on the Dirt season finale. Gotta say, if they had done that when they were trying to get their apartment back from Joey and Chandler, those guys would have had the big place with the balcony forever. More on the finale coming in the morning,... More »

Is this, then, what we have to look forward to when American Idol expands its results show to an hour in a couple of weeks? A bloated, heavily padded confection like the Dancing with the Stars results? I kind of like the Dancing performance shows, a little bit in spite of myself. You can sort of... More »

Let's just get this out of the way. I tuned into Tuesday's (March 27) episode of Pussycat Dolls expecting to witness a much-hyped catfight between Asia and whomever dared to get in her way. I mean, just imagine the beauty of it: Pussycat ... catfight .... Unfortunately, the promised tussle never happened. Instead, viewers got... More »

The theme for Tuesday (March 27) night's American Idol performance episode was announced as Pop Music. Then producer Nigel Lythgoe narrowed it down to any music that influenced the night's guest mentor, Gwen Stefani. But at least three of the performers opted to sing No Doubt songs, which implies that Stefani's biggest influence is herself, with... More »
