Dancing results: Dude(s)!
Well, I can't say I'm surprised at the results of Dancing with the Stars Wendesday. It seems like the right call. In a weird way, though, I'm kinda bummed about it.
Not because I'm such a High School Musical fan, or that I bruised my thumbs trying to call in for Monique Coleman. She kind of lost me a couple weeks back with the krumping and the freaky pink fiberoptics shooting from her skirt.
But doesn't it seem a little off that we're going into the semifinals with, you know, all dudes? I don't know -- after Kelly Monaco in season one and Stacy Keibler last time, it just feels like there should be a little more gender balance going on here.
On the other hand, though, it's hard to argue with the decision. She had an amazing second dance Tuesday night, but she hasn't been as consistent as the three guys who beat her out: Emmitt Smith, Joey Lawrence and Mario Lopez. I'm not really surprised at all that the last two have made it this far, but Smith, like fellow NFL great Jerry Rice last season, has been a pleasant surprise.
If I were to handicap the remaining contestants, I'd still give Mario a clear edge over the other two, but if Joey and Emmitt perform roughly at the same level as they did this week, I'd probably give Emmitt the edge. He seems to get big fan votes every week, and he's shown a good deal of improvement over the course of the season. People like the underdog story, right?
So, folks, how do you see the final three shaking out?

It's not surprising. Most of the people watching this show are of the female persuasion, or at least share the same interests as the female persuasion. Of course they are going to keep voting for the "hunky" dudes, that's why this contest isn't fair!
I think that the show is fair but not perfect. Anytime that you let the general public have a vote you can expect the unexpected. I love both Emmitt and Joey but Mario and his attitude just drive me crazy. I know he is very good but he could use a little more humility. He seems to come off as I know I am very good and confidence is great but just a little bit less.
I would be happy with either Emmitt or Joey, although I think Emmitt has a larger fan base and will win. Not big on Mario for a variety of reasons including his past dance experience which should have disqualified him. I think Willa Ford exited to early, she was the closest thing to Stacy this season in terms of dance talent (and appeal) of the female stars.
Although no female contestants remain, that ok, because I can watch Edyta (and all the female professional dancers) all day!
Mario has some dance experience yes, but never ballroom. If ABC doesnt consider it against their own rules to have him on the show, disqualifying him would be ridiculous. Maybe you wont vote for him for that reason, which is fine of course, but calling for disqualification is unreasonable.
And Joey has had previous dance experience too. And, going back to last season, Stacy had 'previous dance experience' last year too and Drew had to learn choreographed dance steps for tours with 98 Degrees in the past.
I think some knowlesdge of dance enhances their dancing in DWTS and I dont mind at all. As for this year, Emmitt looks like he will win this thing anyway, (from what I observe he is the most popular with the viewers and often the judges), so, hey, it probably wont matter in the end.
The show will never be the same without Stacey Keibler
Will you ever forget the Samba she did. Fantastic !!
I guess everyone caught a glimpse of Cheryl's home on Wednesday. Some digs !!!
She is my favrorite dancer and is the very best at showcasing her partner.
Look what she did for Lachey last year
I'm just so glad the EGO is gone! But, earlier posts were right. This is a female show and they won't let a women get close to winning. I don't count the first year when a female actually won- just look at the yelling when that happened- (it seemed rigged to me too). It is just very obvious who is going to win regardless of his ability- Mario. All that matters is how pretty he is.
As for the ego- I deserve a 10 for jumping off the stage, I deserve a 10 for ..... thank God she is gone. I thought Viv Fox had an ego, I was wrong. She was just confident. Monique developed a huge ego and persecution complex! No female voter is going to vote for that.
Maybe next season they'll boot Samantha Harris off!
A buzz remains regarding the judges fixing their scores, but was wondering if anybody else noticed that in the semis, the judge's votes are almost completely irrelevant? The scoring is done by awarding points for placement. In the semis, 1st gets 3, 2nd gets 2 and 3rd gets 1. When the judges tie, the scores would be 3,2,2, 3,3,2 or 3,3,3.Same for the order of the popular vote, except it is inconcievable that two or more contestants get exactly the same number of votes. In case of a tie, the popular vote wins. Under these rules, the only possible way that the lowest popular vote getter DOESN'T get sent home is if the judges scored 3,2,1 and the the voters scored 1,3,2. In that case only, the person receiving a 1 from the voters still would have 4 and the person receiving 1,2 would go home. In every other situation, the person with the least public votes loses. My guess is that the judges did fix the votes to create the appearance of a close race, and giving the voters the final word, even though in reality, that was the case regardless.
