'Grey's Anatomy': The Robin effect
So, all wrapped up in one little girl who was physically incapable of feeling pain, we got several life lesson's on this week's Grey's Anatomy. Including "You don't have to have superpowers to be a hero" and "pain is not always a bad thing."
My favorite part of the episode though was this rant from George:
"Just look at Batman. Robin just marches into the Batcave and he says, 'Here I am. I'm going to live here too. Give me some tights and I'm taking your towel.' I mean, Batman, he fought for his powers, he honed his strength ... ."
Sure, George was talking about his fast-moving relationship with Callie, but I'd like to apply it to the Derek/Meredith/Finn triangle too. After all, Chris O'Donnell played the aforementioned Robin in two movies, so he has some experience in moving into already claimed territory.
Which still doesn't address why Derek and Finn are both wasting their time fighting over Meredith. After all, Derek is McDreamy and could have his choice of assists in and out of the operating room. And Finn is a veterinarian whose wife died. Women love that stuff (although I secretly always suspect that vet's homes smell like vet's offices). Although, if the rumors that have sprung up around O'Donnell's newly shaved head do hint as brain surgery to come, he just may be heading towards having too much baggage.
I agree with Cristina's assertion about Meredith, "Just when I think you're boring, you rise," except for the rising part. Even when Meredith has a good moment -- "I'm dating, and it comes with snacks." -- it feels like the lines were written for another character and then siphoned over to her at the last minute in an attempt to give her a personality.

What is it with you and your hatred of meredith You deride her all the time Why do you hate her so
I completely agree with you that Meredith is a dud. Why are these two hotties fighting over her like she's the last available cheerleader to ask out before the big homecoming dance? I've always been a fan of Cristina on the show, but the female character I like the best, and she did have to grow on me, is Izzy. She's got the most personality of 'em all -- and is the least predictable. I like the show, though, 'cause I guess people going through internship after med school is the closest representation of grad school life I'm gonna see on TV. I may be an doctoral candidate in English, but I know a thing or two about trauma.
@ geoffrey:probably b/c Meredith is dull and whiney and a bobble-head.
Although I agree that Meredith doesn't deserve to have two hot guys after her....I think in the case of Derek -- he can't help who he fell in love with.
