I didn't get to say this in my news story about HBO renewing The Wire, journalistic standards calling for dispassionate restraint and all that.

Since this is a blog, though, let me just add: Whoooooo!!!!

Seriously, I couldn't be happier to hear that the show will be back. I've seen the entire fourth season and will be discussing it here every Sunday/Monday, and given how this year progresses, the possibilities for season five look amazing. So, once again: Yay!!

Yes, I am also breathing an elated sigh of relief. HBO let me down with _Deadwood_ and _Carnivale_ on the contract renewal front, so good to know that all the ducks are lined up for the fifth (and final) season of _The Wire_. Whoo hoo, indeed.
