I get why ABC is hot to launch a High School Musical-related unscripted show this summer. I don't get why the prize is so lame.
Kate Flannery -- unlike her alcoholic, accident-prone character Meredith Palmer on The Office -- is happy, healthy and has something to look forward to in the next few weeks.

CBS' most popular comedy (Two and a Half Men) and most popular drama (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) are crossing over this Monday (May 5) and Thursday (May 8), but not in the way you might expect.

On balance, it's hard for me to argue that receiving a couple hundred cable channels is a bad thing. I may only watch a fraction of them, but it's nice to know that if I wanted to get tips on refinishing furniture or watch a Premier League match, I could.
The return of Lost to ABC is only a day away from the time of this posting, and you can sort of feel the anticipation in the air.
Over the course of its 18 seasons, Law & Order has gone through more than a dozen cast changes, but it's almost never had a new character interact with the person he or she is replacing.
Sorry, Bones-n-Booth 'shippers. Just because they were last seen in a contrived Christmas-themed liplock, the two lead characters on FOX's Bones won't suddenly be hopping into the sack when the forensic favorite returns on Monday, April 14.

When The Office executive producer Greg Daniels and actor Rainn Wilson talked to reporters a couple weeks ago about the show's return, NBC had yet to announce that it will spin off the Emmy-winning comedy. Still, Wilson sounded up for the idea.
NBC's 30 Rock has had its share of big guest stars -- Jerry Seinfeld, Isabella Rossellini, Edie Falco -- over the course of its two seasons, something for which creator-star Tina Fey is more than a little grateful.
It is a chilly, wet Friday morning in New York, and I've just walked the only four blocks in Midtown without a Duane Reade drugstore, feeling the persistent drizzle seep into my coat, when I hear the first screams.
George Lucas knows how to make an entrance. The Star Wars mastermind walked in to Cartoon Network's upfront Thursday morning to the movie's theme music, with smoke machines billowing clouds of fog onto the stage. And, oh yeah, he was flanked by four clone troopers.
For all the talk about NBC doing a year-round schedule and it being a bold new way of doing business -- even though it isn't entirely new -- the schedules the network presented Wednesday look pretty conventional.
Count My Name Is Earl star Jason Lee and creator Greg Garcia among those excited at the prospect of scripted TV shows returning in the next couple weeks.
Ah, April Fools' Day, a day when even the most trusted people can't be trusted. This applies to the media as a whole, not just that prankster Ashton Kutcher. Hey, as long as we're in on the joke, it's all good.

January 13, 2008 should have been the night much of America was introduced to one of the best shows on TV. AMC's Mad Men won the Globe for best drama series and leading man Jon Hamm won best actor for his career-defining turn as secret-keeping 1960s Manhattan ad man Don Draper. Instead, there was a strike and a televised press conference and you may have forgotten about the whole thing.

If you want to know more about the upcoming X-Files movie (releasing July 25), well, the Paley Festival panel only gives a little 411. But at least there's the trailer and series creator Chris Carter giving reassurance that the film remains true to the spirit of The X-files the show.

Since Dancing With the Stars is all about teaching celebrities a new skill, it's appropriate that the show's panel at the Paley Festival is a learning experience for the audience as well as the current competitors on the show.

Sad fact of life: If you watch enough TV, eventually a network is going to cancel one of your favorite shows prematurely, be it after five episodes or 50 episodes or 100 episodes. Any cancellation is premature, unless the only shows you've ever watched are Seinfeld, Friends, Law & Order and E.R.

Coming soon to The CW's guilty pleasure semi-hit Gossip Girl: The return of Bad Serena (Blake Lively), the introduction of uber-bitchy Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg), a building war between Blair (Leighton Meester) and Jenny (Taylor Momsen) and, if fans are truly lucky, one Gay Jewish Monkey.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer may never have been the most-watched show on The WB or UPN and it may never have won the biggest awards TV has to offer, but on Thursday (March 20) night, a William S. Paley Television Festival-generated reunion of the show's cast and producers made the Cinerama Dome at the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood feel like the center of an odd sort of universe, or the Whedonverse, if you prefer.

"This NBC/DirectTV deal better go through," says TV Guide writer Michael Ausiello at Wednesday's PaleyFest panel for Friday Night Lights. The audience members, with their clear eyes and full hearts, can't lose their show. Can they? Unfortunately, there's still no word if the critically acclaimed series will return for a third season.

Stacey, the 26-year-old graduate student from Chicago who made a statement on this week's premiere of The Bachelor: London Calling with her sparkly blue dress and inebriated antics -- including giving her underwear to bachelor Matt Grant before passing out in a nearby bedroom -- is philosophical about her 15 minutes of fame.
The Tuesday night (March 18) panel for Chuck at the Paley Television Festival can very well be titled "Chuck vs. the Banter." Although the camaraderie is a joy to behold for fans, sometimes the crosstalk, actors impersonating each other and resulting laughter makes it difficult to keep people straight.

Monday (March 17) night's William S. Paley Television Festival salute to Judd Apatow was one of the best Paleys I've been to in my five years of covering the event. Unfortunately, as Zap2it is a family friendly site (more, at least, than we're a family-hostile site), reporting on what transpired is nearly impossible.
