'Big Brother': Steven Daigle's Exit Interview (SPOILERS)
Steven was the second evicted houseguest from the Big Brother house this week and was the second delightful interview I have had the privilege to conduct. He was pleasant and funny and even though it still stings a little to be evicted, he sees his experience in the Big Brother house as a positive one. Follow along after the jump for his complete interview. There are a few spoilers as to Keesha's thoughts on nominations, though, so beware.
What made you audition for Big Brother? Are you a fan of the show?
I become a fan during season 8. I had seen various episodes here and there, but didn't know much about the show until season 8. With that season, I watched every episode and Big Brother After Dark. I wanted to audition for season 9 but backed out. This time I sent my tape in and here we are!
Are you glad you did it? Who will you stay in contact with outside the house?
It's still too raw right now to say it was positive. I'm completely sure a week or two down the road I'm going to look back and think on all of it positively. Emotionally, I'm raw. There were so many ups and downs, it's a humongous roller coaster ride. I think I learned a lot about myself. I'm planning on staying in contact with Angie, Keesha and Dan particularly. We're planning a reunion down in New Orleans.
Do you hope there's some sort of America's Choice vote that brings back an evicted houseguest? Do you hope it will be you?
Well, of course! I don't think I got near enough time to play the game. I put a stigma on me with Brian. If America wanted to see me again, I'm totally game.
What did your goodbye message mean? Was it all inside jokes?
Everyone in the house knew me as a jokester. I always kept everything upbeat and fun in the house with silly humor, that's who I am. Most of the speech was inside jokes, things that had happened in the house. My goal was to walk out with everybody sort-of laughing, wondering and in a little bit of awe and I think I accomplished that. When you have so many hours a day to do nothing, you end up with a lot of running jokes.
I don't know if you heard, but Keesha won HOH last night. How do you feel abou that?
I'm very happy for her, she is just incredible. I initially started sleeping in a bed with Renny and ended up sleeping in a bed with Keesha and we talked a lot. I really hope she makes good choices with her HOH power. I told her immediately before eviction that if she won, I hoped she would nominated one of the Big 3 (April, Ollie and Libra) and I hope she will put two of those up and if they do win POV, replace whomever comes off with the 3rd member. They are the puppet masters right now, they are pulling all the strings in the house.
Would it surprise you to learn she's gunning for Angie?
It does surprise me. I actually heard that a little while ago, I heard possibly Angie and possibly Memphis. I was sort of the connection between Angie and Keesha. They were never really friends in the house, but they had a connection because of me. The only thing I can guess is that since I'm gone they have no connection anymore. You never know what's going to happy until the very last minute, so I really, really hope taht she makes the decisions that I asked her to.
Who is your frontrunner to win?
I think Memphis is going to do very well. He's going to be one of the tough competitors and Brian was right on track with saying that we need to get him out of the house. He's a very strong competitor.
Any parting thoughts?
If anybody wants to see me, I'm going to start bullriding again. There is a calendar of events at www.igra.com and I'm going to start hitting up as many as I can possibly make it to. I'm going to start riding again, so if anybody would like to see me, come on out! I'd love to meet some of my fans.
the house will get more dull without Steven in it Paducah Born Memphis is too rich to end with the top of the heap Hopefully Keesha will take the game and wont be blinded by the others.. Closest fun person to Steve Rennie but thier must be a ghost problem for Jessee some hideen personal history that inspried him not to be bullied and to be a fair chessmaster his inexperience will trim his success Hope the Rodio comes to the Bluegrass state Near LBL (Land Between the Lakes) near Memphis home town that he doenst referrece too much.. Paducah KY.. its Kentucky Lake at Barkley lake one of the largest public (federal) parks East of the mississippi.
D.Ratliff | Jul 24, 2008 12:36:59 PM | #I am so going to miss Steven,I am so happy that Big borther finaly put someone like Steven on the show. It make's me a gay man so proud to see that there is other good looking MALE'S out there. And not show casing all the over the top ones you see all the time on T.V. I going to miss see you Steven the best of luck with anything you do. I hope that some day I would get to meet you in person. Not only are you hot, but just a down to earth every day guy.....
hope all is well.
Robert-kenley
Robert Kenley: As a proud lesbian I am ashamed of the Gay men that are on reality tv. Do you think his parting words .... .... Bitches is representative of our community? I say NOT. Yet every gay man must use fowl language and they need to revert to childish behaviour. Look at them Robert, I hope you wouldnt follow in anyones footsteps because they are making a fool of themselves. At least the lesbians have decent role models for all to see and get to know. You know these ppl too. Gay Men everywhere should be ashamed of themselves, needing to put ppl in their 'place' & fowl language. Hope this makes you think !! It would be a benefit to yourself to NOT follow these guys.
Carolyn | Jul 24, 2008 9:27:07 PM | #The suck it bitches is from comedian Kathy Griffin and how she ens her show every week on TV. It has become a big gay catch phrase; and he meant no harm by it. I know as a comedian she is raw-but if you watch her it is like you are on the inside of the joke.
I liked Steven and thought he was cool-all this gay fighting, we need to lighten up--enough people judge us without ragging on ourselves in public.
Had no idea of the reference and feel much better about it so many thought it was a depressed guy lashing out since he didnt have all his meds. or perhaps he had had more than his dose that also acts like too much booze. I knew he said he liked Griffen some times I do too but she gets too hot for me.
ahh SOOO | Jul 25, 2008 3:35:39 PM | #I'm based in the UK and have been watching BB10 with great interest.....Steven was one of the most entertaining people in the house...he had the ability to speak up for himself and he was also one of the more honest competitors. Steven is a great ambassador for the gay community....he is sexy withou being vain and he is fun without being offensive.
It's a shame the other house mates didn't realise what a great asset Steven could have been if only they'd backed him to stay.
If Steven had stayed and with Keesha winning HOH they could have wiped the house clear of team Jesse/Michelle. What a missed opportunity !
BB10 please give the public a chance to put Steven back in the house....gives us an America's Choice...He deserves
to go back !
I loved this guy. He's what a gay man should be! Funny, Hot, and manly! I'm gunna miss seeing him in the house, now It's all up to Keesha to kick some ass!
