Another season of American Idol is upon us, boys and girls! I'm giddy with anticipation. I'm glad to hear they are showing more talent and less crazy people in the initial audition rounds this year. Nothing annoys me more than a person who makes the Top 24 whom we have never seen before. We've got two hours tonight and two hours tomorrow so strap in, folks.

The new Hollywood Week format showcased on Tuesday (Feb. 12) night's American Idol had some odd consequences. On one hand, it was almost completely devoid of the sort of suspense and histrionics viewers have come to expect. That's bad. On the other hand, I felt like I actually saw some super performances over the course of the two-hour episode. That's good.
