Paula Abdul not coming back to 'American Idol'

Wow. Paula needs Idol more than Idol needs Paula but she will be missed.

This really saddens me! Paula added so much to the show. Kara acts like a "snob" so much that I don't like her! Hopefully she'll be a little different this year. I'll certainly miss Paula!

I was unhappy with Kara from the get go. Without Paula the show wont be the same. I'm probably going to p*** on the next season of idle. With the strange voting that put Adam in 2nd place and now with Kara replacing Paula, it's not making any sense anymore.

THANK GOODNESS!! NOW MAYBE THEY WILL REPLACE HER WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS A DECENT COMMAND OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE.

I knew that when they brought Kara on, Paula was going to leave. I think they knew it in advance and in order for the audiance to accept Kara they brought her on last season and made it appear they would have 4 judges. I probably won't miss Paula much,she kinda bugged me. I do like Kara a lot (exept she can't write music). I think the biggest down would be if Randy or Simon left. Good Luck Paula

Oh! Im so sad to hear that paula will not gonna be part of the american idol. That's defenetily makes difference, imagine she the sweetest judge among the four. I remember watching it season 8 where she is having a hard time pronoucing the word she like to discribe one of teh talent..hahaha

It was nice of them to allow her to say that this was "her" decision. Paula is a train wreck and has been lucky to have this job as long as she has.

this is a big mistake by Idol and I for sure am done with the show!!!!!!

In my opinion and a lot of others I have spoken with, having Paula Abdul leave the show after being there from the very best show is just plain suicide. I love the show, the talent, but after the talent it was always amusing to see what Paula was going to say and she if she and Simon were going to give each other a hard time again. Truthfully, I thought Kara was nice, but talked to much, no rapport with any of the other judges I could see, and Randy, Paula, and Simon are the three that have brought this show to what it is today. You may feel one change like a judge may not make much difference, but it will never be the same. Kara is all over the place with her comments, and not in a funny, flaky way like Paula. And there seems nothing between Kara and Simon. I have been a watcher since the first show and my family, friends, and coworkers who are true fans gather at my house each week to watch. We always love to see what Paula is going to do next. She is actually one of the best entertainments of the show, that and her ongoing "fued" with Simon. Kara is not going to cut it. There is no way she can replace Paula, and I didn't even care for her last year with Paula there. Paula is a unique addition to the show, the talent, the judges, and sometimes we laugh at her but mostly with her. No matter how wild she is, she tries so hard to try to say something nice to the artist, or at least not slam them. It is a refreshing break from all the serious stuff. I like Randy, also, but the two that I believe HAVE to be on American Idol as judges is Simon and Paula. They lighten the show up and make it fun instead of everyone being so nervous. Honestly, don't think myself and my group will any longer be loyal watchers. If it's money give it to her, my good ness Ryan Seacrest got enough with apparently little effort. PAULA NEEDS TO BE THERE AS A JUDGE THIS 9TH SEASON AS SHE HAS BEEN IN THE PREVIOUS ONES!!! I TRULY BELIEVE THE SHOW WILL CHANGE AND SUFFER FROM THE CHANGE. SHE IS LIKE SIMON AND RANDY, THERE FROM THE START AND HOPEFULLY THERE UNTIL THE END. LOTS OF WILL MISS PAULAS, QUIRKY WAYS, AND IT WILL BE A LOW SPOT THAT CANNOT BE FILLED BY ANYONE ELSE, MUCH LESS KARA, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. PLEASE GIVE US BACK OUR FUNNY AND WACKY PAULA. I SERIOUSLY THINKING THE SHOW DOES NOT REALIZE WHAT AN ENORMOUS CHANGE IT IS MAKING WITHOUT HER. AND I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE I HAVE SPOKEN WITH FEEL EXACTLY LIKE ME. IT HAS TAKEN THE FUN OUT OF EVEN LOOKING FOR THE SHOW TO START. SHAME ON YOU ALL, GIVE HER WHATEVER YOU NEED TO TO KEEP HER THERE, AND I WOULD MUCH RATHER YOU SEND KARA HOME BUT I GUESS IT;S TOO LATE FOR THAT. SHE JUST DRIVES ME CRAZY AND I CAN HARDLY WAIT FOR HER TO FINISH, SO I CAN SEE WHAT PAULA SAYS. THIS IS ACTUALLY BEING SENT BY 36 OF US THAT GATHER EACH WEEK IN ONE PLACE TO WATCH. NOT SO SURE ABOUT THIS YEAR. MY FRIENDS AND I LIKED SEASON 1 THROUGH 7 THE BEST, TOLERATED SEASON 8 WITH KARA, BECAUSE WE COULD SEE PAULA'S ANTICS NEXT. BOY, I REALLY HATE IT AND SO DO MY FRIENDS AND COWORKERS IT HAS BEEN A BIG DEAL FOR US HEREING THE TALENT, THE JUDGES, ESPECIALLY PAULA AND SIMON'S OPINION AND THEN RUSHING TO OUR PHONES TO VOTE AS SOON AS THE SHOW IS OVER. I HOPE FOR YOUR SHOW'S SAKE IT IS NOT AS IMPACTED BY PAULA'S ABSENCE AS WE FEEL IT WILL BE. BUT A LOT OF US ARE DISAPPOINTED AND DISHEARTENED BY WHAT THE JUDGE'S COMMENTS WILL BRING. DON'T IT WILL BE ANY FUN OR ENTERTAINMENT THERE.

YOU HAVE LITTLE TIME I KNOW BUT GET THIS FIXED FOR YOUR LOYAL FANS OF 8 YEARS SO FAR. WE DON'T WANT A CHANGE. WE WANT PAULA ABDUL. WE NEED PAULA ABDUL. AND WE ARE NOT ALONE, IF YOU LIVED IN THE REAL WORLD OF VIEWERS AND KNEW HOW PEOPLE FEEL ABOUT HER ADDITION, HOWEVER CORNY, OR MISTAKE, OR GARBLED, MAKES TO THE SHOW. I TRULY FEEL MANY PEOPLE ENJOY HER REVIEWS AS MUCH AS THEY ENJOY THE SORT OF RIVALRY AND PLAYFULLNESS BETWEEN SHE AND SIMON. YUCK, KARA THE ONLY FEMALE THERE WITH RANDY AND SIMON. BORING!!!!!!!!!!

Well I'm saddened to hear this. I wasn't a fan of Kara, and half the fun of watching the show was the interaction between Paula, Simon and Randy. I truly believe the show will suffer with Paula's absence
