'American Idol' judge Kara DioGuardi officially returning
FOX has made it official today with the announcement that Kara DioGuardi is returning as an "American Idol" judge.
From the official press release: "We are so happy to
welcome back Kara for her second season with IDOL," said Simon Fuller,
Creator/Executive Producer, AMERICAN IDOL. "She is a breath of fresh air, and
her passion for music and her understanding of talent is invaluable. This show
is all about discovering new talent, and Kara's championing of Adam Lambert is
proof positive of her great instinct."
DioGuardi was recently honored with the 2009 Icon Award, which is
granted by the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) to outstanding
songwriters for personal achievement. She is also a Grammy Award nominee, the
2007 BMI Pop Songwriter of the Year and a 2007 SOCAN (Society of Composers,
Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) Award winner.
I'm actually happy about this. I know most people fall into either the Paula Camp or the Kara Camp, but I happen to like both ladies as judges. They bring different things to the table. The four-judge system definitely has some kinks but I'm okay with all four judges returning. If they decide to go back to three judges, I think Randy Jackson can hit the road. He doesn't contribute as much as the other judges, in my opinion.

yea I agree. for me for you for me randy doesnt bring much to the table. there are alot of kara haters but I like her
I'm not a fan of Kara. I believe that if it wasn't broke why try to fix it. Does with this announcement come the news that they won't have Paula back for season 9? Well either way they will lose viewers the record industry as a whole is going flat. I for one listen to the older music I have from the 90's and early 2000. This what they call new music is a load of self promoting crap. And this includes the song penned by Kara "No Boundaries" So with that being said the only reason people find an interest in Idol is cause the know the music that the contestants sing and have fond memories attached to them.
get her off the show, she has no talent and is no paula abdul. not sure why she even was cast next to the legendary super star paula abdul. this woman can even write a song, kara get off idol.
Andrea, I couldn't agree more. I'm not sure who made up the rule that you had to like either Kara or Paula and not both. Sure Kara was a little awkward at times last year, but if you look back to season 1, so was everyone else. Kara wasn't used to everyone with her and hadn't judged before, so of course she'll have some kinks. I think she'll do better this year. I like Paula, but honestly she doesn't really bring much to the table that will actually help the contestants thrive, does she? They do need to work on the 4 judge format for this year and make sure the time thing is taken care of.

so sad how everyone is jelous of paula abdul... they rather ahve the ugly untalented judge on the show vs the hot talented paula.

An absolute hack that Kara person is. What a horrible human being with no sense or judge of talent at all! And Fuller calls her a breath of fresh air? What the hell has this guy been drinking? Now you have four over-priced idiots who wouldn't no talent if they were auditioning on the Gong Show. Another reason now NOT to watch AI as it slowly declines in popularity. This show has now...Jumped the Shark!
That's too bad, I don't think she added anything to the show. I like the original 3 and was hoping they would go back to that format. The 4 judge format just doesn't work.
kara is a breath of fresh bathroom air to that show. She cant even write good songs.
