Brit singer offered Paula's 'American Idol' job?

Cole Jam! Television (via Wenn.com) is reporting that British singer Cheryl Cole has turned down $6 million to take over for Paula Abdul on "American Idol."

Cole is no stranger to judging, as she took over for Sharon Osbourne on British show "The X Factor" last year. Reportedly, "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell has offered the 26 year-old Brit a spot beside him on the Idol judging panel, but she turned it down because her husband, soccer player Ashley Cole, would be in England.

This seems awfully weird in the wake of Simon reportedly throwing his support behind Paula Abdul.

Well, that's because it is probably not true. No source for the info was provided in the Jam! Television article. It's another "someone said".

Plus, I find it hard to believe Cowell can offer anyone a spot on Idol himself.

Probably a rumor floated out there by the producers to show Paula that she can be replaced. I've never heard of Cheryl Cole, but I'd never heard of Kara either until they brought her on.

Why would they need to replace her? They already have Cara... she can actually complete a sentence and most of them make sense too.

To me the show works with the chemistry of the judges and the host. I believe that adding Kara to the mix was unnessary. Paula brings a lot os positive vibes and karma to the show and at this point for them to dismiss her because of cash would be bad for the show. Let Kara go and give Paula more money is the solution,

Kara is so tore up looking poor thing. Paula is my fav,s he was great in Borat and love her music.

wow meow, didn't know paula abdul was in borat. i'll have to dust off my dvd and check it out.

They don't need 4 judges. If Paula does leave, she should not be replaced. Well actually Kara would be her replacement. When they announced last year that Kara was joining as the 4th judge I just new the reason she was being added was to get viewers used to her before one of the regular judges left the show (Paula or Randy). It should be kept at 3 judges.

I stopped watching teh show, once i saw Kara. I am glad that her song for adam lamber flopped. People booed at the concerts once kara's song started to sing. That woman should not be near Paula Abdul, no talent or looks when compared to Paula.

This article is accurate. Cheryl, the host of the X-Factor in the UK (the replacement for Pop Idol in England), was in LA this past week negotiating a deal. It was said that she turned it down due to the possible negative publicity she may garner for "stealing" Paula's seat. She made a side comment that she didnt want to be away from her husband, but that wasn't the full reason as to why she turned it down.

Correction, she is not a host on X-factor, but rather a judge.
