'American Idol' contestant Ju'not Joyner says show is rigged
Former "American Idol" semi-finalist Ju'not Joyner has some pretty strong words about the popular reality show.
Joyner told Yahoo that he "was labeled a "troublemaker" by Idol producers for questioning the contract (which he dubbed a 'slavetract') that all auditioners are required by Fox/19 to sign, and was allegedly told by Idol bigwig Ken Warwick, 'You're not going to ruin my show'--explained that he wanted to set the record straight today. He stated that he wanted to reveal 'truth of Idol' because 'Idol ain't all it is cracked up to be...It's certainly not the fairytale most think it is.'" The full article can be found here.
I don't think any of us think "American Idol" is any kind of fairytale, but I can't decide if this is a case of someone finally speaking out against The Man or if it's a severe case of sour grapes. You'll have to read the article and decide for youself.

paula was the only thing taht added credibility to that show and now Kara is taking over. Loved how Chris Allen stopped singing her song at his concerts because he got booed.
I believe that the show is rigged. And I am happy that Junot came out and said it. The people should not be told to keep on voting and to think that the winner was based on the number of votes. That is wasting our time and money! They should have just decided who the winner should be! That is a disgrace and we, the public, should not be treated this way!
Of course it's someone finally speaking out against The Man.
Is this really any kind of surprise? Yes, the producers (and judges) manipulate the audience but who didn't know that? I still watch the show, but for pure entertainment reasons only and certainly don't take it too seriously.
I just went to the American Idol Tour Concert in Charlotte, N. It was absolutely fantastic. I am a 60+ grandmother and was yelling and clapping with the best of them. Adam Lambert is one of the most talented young men I have ever seen. And Anoop was back in his home state so he got plenty fo applause!!! The show was great.
