Simoncowell_americanidol_290 The contract for Simon Cowell's 9th season of "American Idol" is reportedly through the roof.

According to early leaks regarding negotiations, co-producers Fox and 19 Entertainment have offered Cowell between $100 million to $144 million to stick with Idol once his contract is up in May. That is three to four times his previous salary of $36 million.

"American Idol" generally nets about $900 million per season, so that salary is a proverbial drop in the bucket. However, the high end of those negotiations, $144 million, is more money than the 2008 salaries of Miley Cyrus, Ryan Seacrest, Jessica Alba, Carrie Underwood, Eli Manning, 50 Cent, Scarlett Johansson, and Albert Pujols combined.

I understand that it's really not much of a show without Cowell, but... holy cow.

More money than God? Not exactly an appropriate way to express this.

Without Simon - Idol will FOLD!

Perfect! He can take that ridiculous amount of money which is more than anyone can hope to spend and contribute it to "Idol Gives Back". Charity, not greed.
