Adamlambert_americanidol_s8_240 Amid all the treacly ballads on Tuesday's "American Idol," only a couple of performances stood out. One was Kris Allen's take on "Falling Slowly" from "Once," and the other was Adam Lambert's glammed-up version of the classic-rock staple "Born to Be Wild."

Let's do a little compare and contrast, shall we? Here's the song in its original form, played out over the credits of the 1969 counterculture classic "Easy Rider." It's a pretty perfect fit for the movie.

And here's Adam's verison from Tuesday night -- an arrangement that meshes really well with his big voice and theatrical, occasionally over-the-top performing style.

What'd you think? Did you like Adam's twist on the song?

YES! I loved Adam's version. It was a very electrifying performance, he rocked!! Easily the best of the night.

Adam is now in danger of people thinking he doesn't need the help and votes will drop off because of that... watch for that to happen soon. He might be the one they use the save on if this happens while it's still available to the judges.

If this is going to happen to Adam as I predict, I hope it's before the save so the judges can save him if he's the lowest vote getter that week.

Adam Lambert is THE IDOL without question - no one compares to his talent and style. One hot rocker!!! Every week he surprises the crowd with something new. I would so like to meet him.....

Everyone else pales in comparison to him. He is simply the best idol ever. He is electrifying. Even those who say they can't stand him have to admit he's one of a kind.

No, they don't.

NO, BEC ALL HE CAN DO IS SCREAM AND BE GAY

This guy is obviously born to be wild. His version sounds more like Led Zepplin than like the original (oh gosh, who did the original please?), but it works. He commits. He's a rock star.

I thought it was awesome. And for once, I could actually understand the lyrics!!!

He's the reincarnation of Grace Slick. (and I mean this in a good way.)

A Plea to Adam: Dear Adam, When you are famous, and you are out there, dealing with the powers that be (who'll want you to play it safe), making decisions, finding your way, don't be derivative.

Adam is a real superstar.......he could fill a stadium, the others, just a coffee house. I have not seen a rock star like him since Jim Morrison...........the others pale by comparison!
