Allison's voice is damaged.Her vocal cords are swollen.She is in constant strain and over pushing all her notes.What she has is a will to sing.Her real voice which should not sound so thick is yet to be discovered.It may not sound so mysterious,but this is the "maturity" that everyone's been saying she has.In fact she pays no attention to lyrics at all.
