Ryanseacrest_americanidol_240_002 Fox reality chief Mike Darnell said in a TV Week interview released yesterday that the American Idol Top 12 will feature a "big surprise." He said it won't impact the show's core concept but that it will definitely be talked about.  He also cited the element of controversy surrounding it, which will probably garner mixed reactions. In addition to the big surprise, there are other changes, including the reintroduction of the wild card spot (which was known weeks ago) and that contestants will be living in houses.

He also said that there will be a lot more behind-the-scenes footage of the Top 12 contestants, which I think is fantastic. It's always nice to see the Idols' day-to-day activities and to know they are enjoying themselves

Don't like house footage idea. The public can't handle it. Very good contestants already get bad raps for being "snotty," "****y," "*****y" just because of how the audience perceives them to be. If you don't look suitably relieved to be safe on the couch? You're suddenly ****y. Now, if we get inside the house footage, who is the best performer will be even less important than it is now. It will become purely a popularity contest.

Hate the idea.

Wonder what the surprize is? Perhaps Archuletta will return.....

I think it will be that either groups or bands will be allowed to compete as one entity...so the "idol" could actually be a group of people vs. one single indivdual.

Sie haben eine schöne Seite!
