March 2008
Since I'm not necessarily interesting in reporting on Frenchie Davis' polyp (another way American Idol has conspired to keep her down), let's get a few additional updates from late last week on talent and sponsors confirmed for the upcoming Idol Gives Back charity spectacular.

Darn it, America. By voting Chikezie off of American Idol on Wednesday (March 26) night, you cost us all the chance to hear the excitable Inglewood native cover "9-to-5" on next week's Dolly Parton mentored performance night. Well, I know I'm disappointed.

For this first time this season, the occasionally reliable, semi-scientific prognosticators at DialIdol are reporting that a singer other than Presumptive American Idol Winner David Archuleta got the most votes. That suggests that as Wednesday's (March 26) American Idol results show begins, it's anybody's game. Well, anybody except for the person eliminated Wednesday...

Because I'm a superficial person, Kimberley Locke was only my second favorite Kim on the second season of American Idol, but that doesn't mean that it won't be nice to see her on Wednesday (March 26) night when she revisits the Idol stage.

Since last week's Lennon-McCartney Night was so successful -- I'm not being sarcastic there, though I know it's hard to tell sometimes -- it's back to the well once more on Tuesday (March 18) night's American Idol, with a Beatles theme. Would lightning strike twice or would the second time on the huge Idol stage not be the charm? Let's find out, shall we?

I made the vow last American Idol season and I'm returning to it this season: Until I make my own generous donation, there will be no mockery or joking about Idol Gives Back. The show's producers have announced what charities will benefit from, well, the benefit.
