'American Idol' is going to Disney World
American Idol is set to follow in the footsteps of FOX sibling The Simpsons in spawning a theme park attraction. At this rate, there's going to be a 'Til Death ride at Knott's Berry Farm by Christmas.
Disney and 19 Entertainment announced at the end of last week that an American Idol attraction will be heading to Disney World in Florida starting in late 2008. That ought to help smooth out those rough months between the American Idol finale and tour and the start of audition episodes for the show's eighth season, eh?
The companies said that the Idol attraction will be located at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park and will be a "high energy show" and will chart the entire Idol experience including auditioning, performing in competition and facing judges.
Based on the press release, it sounds like show producers will weed through a variety of auditions every day. Those selected in that process will get to work with a vocal coach and a hair-and-makeup team before performing in from of an audience and a panel of judges. Each day, the performers with the most votes will appear in a Grand Finale show at Walt Disney World and the winners will get a "guaranteed reservation for a future regional stadium audition."
"One of the most remarkable elements about American Idol is that for a brief moment each week, we can provide TV viewers the opportunity to imagine life as America's next superstar," says Idol producer Simon Fuller in a statement. "Disney's new attraction perfectly captures what we at American Idol feel is the heart and soul of this brand, real people getting a shot to make their dream a reality."
Simon, Paula and Randy won't be included. It also seems unlikely that Ryan Seacrest will be popping up, though heaven knows that guy loves to work.
An attraction based on The Simpsons is expected to premiere at Universal Studios in Orlando this spring.

I think that ryan and paula and randy and simon should all record things like good job or well done and play them so it really feels like you are there in the action! Love the Idea! If not paula randy and simon then YOU MUST put RYAN SEACREST in there because he is the real "Face" of American Idol!
